Neil was a fit, athletic, hard working, social young man with a great future ahead of him until he went on a night out to celebrate his best friends birthday and never returned.

Neil suffered a severe traumatic brain injury when he fell 50 foot after being abandoned and robbed by a taxi driver.  He was found by a passerby and rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery and his family were told he had three hours to live.  He had suffered subarachnoid haemorrhage, left subdural haematoma, intracerebral haemorrage with comminuted fracture and he underwent a Bifrontal Decompressive Craniectomy.

Despite the odds he pulled through, he is unable to talk to us but communicates with his facial expressions.  Neil is bedbound and requires 24hr care by two carers. We are confident that he recognises his family and friends and his personality shows through all the time.  He smiles, laughs (his laugh which is wonderful to hear), gives thumbs up, shakes his head and will shake your hand.

All of this progress has been achieved through attending intensive neuro therapy which has given Neil the confidence that he can improve his situation through hard work and believing in himself. The doctors do not know what the future holds for him or how far his recovery will go but we as a family are determined to give him the best shot at getting his life back.  He attends therapy twice a week and each session costs £96 - the NHS will not fund the sessions even though it is clearly helping him.

Please help him to regain the best possible quality of life his injury will allow.
