Daisy is our little girl, the day she was born they said she may not make it out of hospital "Prepare yourself" they said. She is now 4 years old. She has severe Cerebral Palsy; her brain stem is damaged due to oxygen starvation. This means that all limbs and muscles are affected. She cannot walk or talk; she can't suck or swallow needing food through a tube in her tummy. Her hearing is affected and her vision poor. Due to her not being able to swallow her lungs are affected and have scarring which makes breathing difficult. Daisy also has a rare condition where she can stops breathing on a regular basis and needs constant medication to keep it under control, otherwise needing resuscitation and oxygen. All this and still she smiles, every day. Her 6 year old sister Gracie has never complained and never leaves her out even though she gets very little reaction back.
We previously raised money for a wonderful holiday for Gracie and Daisy to spend quality time together and we had an amazing response and the we all had the best time of our lives. Gracie and Daisy now have a strong bond and look forward to spending time together. This year we are looking to take their relationship further and bring them together through constistant play. We are now raising money for sensory equipment that will not only give the girls a way to interact through play, but will allow Daisy the freedom to play in her own way. Play is so important and Daisy cannot play without help of someone to guide her, however, the 'Magic Carpet' sensory projection gives her the independence to express her imagination and all of the fun that comes with playtime. This wonderful equipment is very, very expensive and without the generous help from people it simply wouldn't be possible. Please follow our page and keep up to date with Daisy and her big sister Gracie. Thank you so much for reading. Wayne, Jo, Gracie and Daisy
