Click on the yellow Give button to donate! The cast and creative team of Blood Sisters The Musical has been invited to perform for two special events at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC! We've got ten days to raise the funds for travel, lodging, costumes and food! No matter what side of the political aisle you’re on, if you love good music, or if you know any of our production, writing or cast team members, then we ask for your support to participate in this historical event! Co-creators and writers Malikah Harris and Jacquelyn Graham are honored to have the opportunity to showcase their music at these events (of which is a white-tie affair where President Obama is the guest of honor!) This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our team to share our music and message with a national audience! You may even catch some of our performance on the jumbo trons! What People Are Saying About Blood Sisters The Musical: In Concert “Blood Sisters is among the most marketable, well-written, well produced, and exciting original works I’ve seen in my 16 years with Orlando Fringe. It would not surprise me to see this show go on to huge success for many years to come.” — Michael Marinaccio, Producer, Orlando International Fringe Festival "...what makes this show stand out is the way that story is told, specifically the highly polished musical numbers. These songs, by Malikah Harris, Jacquelyn Graham, Frank Liberti and Keith Wilson, are slick and seductive. The women sing in tight harmony as if En Vogue has shimmied up on the stage. Yet the slickness enhances rather than detracts from the emotions of the story...But watch these ladies dance, listen to them sing. There is something real happening on the stage." — Matt Palm, Orlando Sentinel Theater Critic "The real star here is the fantastic score, delivered by six stellar singers. Sonic styles range from Broadway-inflected R&B and good-old gospel to Americanized Afropop, with an exciting opening number that recalls Fela Kuti...Sadly, shows created and performed entirely by African-Americans are often unfairly dismissed as only aimed at that demographic. As the proverbial “whitest guy in any room,” I can happily say I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and left Blood Sisters wanting more." — Seth Kubersky, Orlando Weekly Please Note: You do not have to sign up for a PayPal account to donate. Just click on "Buy as a Guest" and you can use your credit or debit card. Other Ways You Can Help Donate as often as you like! In addition to making a donation today, you can help in other ways! Blood Sisters Travel Budget for DNC: As with all DNC entertainers, our cast and crew are volunteering their time and talent for this event. The funds will be used to cover expenses incurred for the trip. $500 It's much more expensive to fly, so we're renting a van and driving the 9 hours from Orlando to Charlotte in time for tech and vocal rehearsals, sound checks, etc. $500 Gas To travel from Orlando to Charlotte, to and from convention rehearsals/events, and back to Orlando. $1,140 Per Diem ($190/person for 5 days at standard N. Carolina federal rate of $38/day for both lunch @ $12 & dinner @ $26 —breakfast is covered as part of our lodging expenses). $2,850 Lodging for entire cast for five nights at special convention rate ($95/night per person - includes breakfast) $ 500 Costumes (We've found an amazing costume designer who is willing to donate her services. The funds will be used to purchase fabric and embellishments for the gowns.) TOTAL = $5490 All who donate will be listed in our e-blasts from the DNC, and will receive thanks on facebook, twitter. You will also be entitled to a great big hug from Malikah Harris, Jacquelyn Graham, Brooke Hobbs and the entire cast! You will also receive updates about Blood Sisters The Musical (upcoming shows, progress toward our full production and ultimate goal: Broadway!) Signed cast photos/posters will be available to anyone who contributes $50 or more. Exclusive footage from our DNC trip will be provided to supporters who donate $100 or more.
