Help Rose Protect Her Wildlife Sanctuary
My name is Rose. I am an American artist and puppeteer, and for
many years I was active at the McGuffey Art Center. Many people know
me through my creative work, my community involvement, and the years I
have spent sharing art, storytelling, and puppetry with others.
Today, I am asking for help in a serious and urgent legal situation involving my property in Virginia.
I bought this 10-acre property 15 years ago. Over the years, it
became much more than land to me. I cared for it as a wildlife
sanctuary and worked to protect the forest, the native habitat, and
the natural balance of the property.
The forest also served an important environmental purpose. It acted
as a windbreak and helped with erosion control along Coon Creek, which
funnels into the Tye River. To help combat erosion, the land was
replanted with indigenous Virginia shrubs and trees. These plantings
were part of the internal infrastructure of the 10-acre forest and
were intended to help stabilize and protect the land.
The property was moving toward a potential sale, but any sale
process did not include permission for anyone to damage the forest,
remove trees, disturb erosion-control areas, or harm the internal
infrastructure of the land.
Now, a lis pendens has been recorded against my property, and I
need legal representation to protect my rights, respond properly
through the court system, and make sure that my side is fully and
professionally presented.
There are also serious concerns about damage to the land. Trees on
the property have already been cut down without my consent. I am
collecting photos, documents, and other information so that my
attorney can review what happened, evaluate the damage to the forest
and erosion-control areas, and advise me on any legal remedies that
may be available.
The money raised through this fundraiser will be used for:
Attorney retainer and legal fees
Court-related expenses
Document and property-record review
Legal advice regarding the lis pendens
Legal review of the tree-cutting and property-damage concerns
Possible review of environmental, erosion-control, and
land-restoration issues
Other costs directly connected to protecting my property rights
I am not asking anyone to attack anyone or take sides in a public dispute. I am asking for help so I can retain proper legal counsel and respond through the legal system in the right way.
This property has been part of my life for 15 years. It has been a place of nature, wildlife, trees, and care. I need help protecting my rights and making sure that the damage and legal claims are properly reviewed by an attorney.
