IN SUMMARY:

My mother has been suffering from severe fibromyalgia for over 10 years. I moved with my folks back to QLD from Victoria to help get mum back into a warmer climate to help ease her symptoms a little. However, she has continued to get worse and to deteriorate quite dramatically.

Over the past 10 years, my parents have tried many specialists, doctors and treatments - both medical and natural - mostly to no avail or with little relief. And trust me, when I say we’ve tried almost everything - I mean everything! Mum is currently on a regime of natural treatment and pain medication to help manage symptoms to some degree but with little relief. My mum basically lives in a body prison of endless suffering with excruciating pain and many severely debilitating symptoms.

HOW FIBRO HAS DEBILITATED MUM:

• She is confined to either laying in bed or sitting on the couch all day
• She has pain throughout her whole body, so severe that even the strongest prescription pain meds barely ease it. (I often find mum crying in pain and she has the highest pain threshold I’ve seen)
• She is so sore, you can barely touch her without pain
• she can’t go out and if she does - it’s in much suffering, therefore we can’t go out anywhere as a family, therefore she is confined to the house 24/7
• She suffers severe nausea
• She can barely taste food
• Suffers severe diarreha and IBS
• Endless headaches
• Suffers severe insomnia (in fact, she’s barely slept for the past couple of years)
• The list goes on… she basically lives in a body prison of endless suffering. This is no way to live.

To add pain to her pain, she is now due for hip replacements (she has already had both her knees replaced due to this condition). So she is in severe pain with her hips too and while she is on a long waiting list to get hip surgery - we need to get her well enough to even go for surgery.

TREATMENT PLAN:

Through much research & discussions with specialists - we have discovered the best treatment for mum is: 1.) Vitamin infusion therapy and 2.) FMS (Frequency Specific Microcurrent) treatments. These treatments will help restore mum’s body and treat the fibro pain at the source and actually help give mum her life back. These treatments will have to happen weekly initially - for about 6 -12 months and then hopefully we can decrease the frequency after that. These treatments will add about $300 a week on top of the already large medical bills my folks are already paying for mum's care. With my dad being a full-time carer for mum and therefore both of them living on a disability pension - they just can’t afford these costs. And after years of full-time care and medical costs - their finances are completely depleted.

ABOUT FIBROMYALGIA:

Fibromyalgia is the 6th most painful illness. It’s more painful than a heart attack, kidney stones, post surgery recovery pain and arthritis…. Just to name a few. The pain is usually throughout the whole body and it is an unrelenting, consistent pain. To further compound this pain are the painful symptoms that often come with fibro: migraines and group headaches, arthritis, skin too sore to touch, severe period pain or endometriosis, nerve pain and slow more painful recoveries to injuries or other illnesses/ viruses. Other symptoms include: Severe chronic fatigue, severe insomnia (which also increases pain), incontinence, diarrhea and IBS, nausea, overall weakness & faintness, loss of appetite, sometimes loss of taste, depression, anxiety and the list goes on and on.

As a fibromyalgia suffer myself - I explain fibromyalgia like this: it feels like you are being buried alive in a coffin - your body is shutting down & detioriating while you are still alive. This illness is literally like living in a prison of physical torture that never seems to end and what makes it worse, is that it’s invisible! No one can see it - so they don’t understand how severe it is, how excruciatingly painful and exhausting it is and how debilitating it is. And in the very severe cases - like in the case of mum - you lose ALL quality of life to this condition.
