Stress levels are elevated during the exam period. It's a trying time for the majority of families, and both parents and students face typical stress. Stress can also be advantageous in that it can assist you in remaining motivated and focused. Excessive stress, on the other hand, can be detrimental to one's health. Stress can overwhelm, confuse, exhaust, and irritate you.
Even parental pressure and a high standard of behaviour on the part of the child can contribute to stress and tension. Additionally, it is critical for parents to maintain perspective and find ways to alleviate stress when situations appear to be spiralling out of control. We recommend a few straightforward parenting Do's and Don'ts to assist you in escaping this dangerous situation.
Simply maintain your composure
Parents frequently demonstrate their anxiety to their children.
It is, however, ineffective. In this case, the child either becomes a
complete rebel and deliberately avoids studying, or the child becomes
so nervous as a result of the mounting pressure from their parents
that he or she is simply unable to perform. When their parents
constantly tell them what to do and how to do it, children frequently
become irritated. This not only irritates them, but also contributes
to their anxiety and insecurity about upcoming exams. They may
experience a decline in self-esteem. What is your best course of
action? Retain your composure and allow your child to proceed. Consult
a counsellor if you are unable to do so. You can give them some cool
gifts for kids they'll enjoy to help them cope with the situation;
additionally, you can save money by using coupons from portals like
CouponsABC, which I found to be user-friendly.
Leave your previous concepts at the door
When I was studying for my boards more than a decade ago,
everyone was concerned with grades. However, we've come to understand
that these distinctions are meaningless. Exams will be more forgiving
of us if we are forgiving of them. Enjoy the process. Advise your
child to study in order to broaden his or her horizons. When you place
an excessive emphasis on grades, you place undue pressure on your
students. Additionally, those who excel in school may struggle in
life, and vice versa. Therefore, avoid allowing these exams to
determine your child's self-worth. Passing an exam does not guarantee
that they will succeed in life.
Assemble a support system
You are not required to put your life on hold while your child
is studying. Throughout the year, maintain your job and social
activities. You should only stay at home around the time of the exams
to make things more comfortable and convenient for them. Maintain a
calm and peaceful atmosphere in your home, a pleasant fragrance, and
only speak of positive outcomes. Assure that they get enough sleep,
eat a balanced diet, and exercise on a daily basis, as these three
factors all contribute to stress reduction. Encourage them to study,
but do not coerce them. Learning is about absorbing, which can occur
only when the child is sufficiently relaxed and rested. Attempting to
memorise and learn new concepts until the last possible moment may
result in memory loss or exhaustion during the performance.
Determine the capability of the child
Many parents express concern when their children appear to
struggle with time management or appear exhausted near the end of the
exam. This is unavoidable in some cases, as children have been rushing
to various classes, completing an abundance of papers, and putting in
a great deal of practise time. Parents should not panic and
immediately begin discussing the worst-case scenarios and how they
will affect their child's grades. Recognize that your child has a cap
on his or her performance and can only perform to the best of his or
her ability. Recognize their shortcomings. As a general rule, avoid
comparisons, even if their sibling is the class president. Trust the
children and look out for their best interests, as each child is unique.
There will be no discussion of business
Keep your focus on the present moment. This is not the time to
discuss which stream or career path they should pursue, or, even
worse, to suggest a career path for them. In these instances,
discussing it results in low self-esteem and a sense of betrayal by
the child. Therefore, avoid placing undue pressure on your children.
If they do not perform well, they will be forced to choose between
Commerce and Arts, as Science is obsolete at the moment. Ascertain
that the conversations during this time are pleasant and unrelated to
the results of the board exam and its consequences. Simply put, if you
want to purchase children's stationary, use a coupon code to save money. Askmeoffers is a
well-known platform where you can easily find such deals.
Take care not to be influenced by others
Avoid unsolicited advice from friends, neighbours, and
relatives, and continue to ask your child what they want to be when
they grow up. This will instil expectations in your mind, which will
only serve to stifle your child's development. This is not the time to
add to the cloud of anxiety and tension by inviting others. Mozart and
santoor stimulate the right nerves of the brain, resulting in
increased concentration and memory. This will not only benefit you as
a parent, but will also benefit your children's performance.
Make no comparisons
As parents, it is your level of confidence in your children that
contributes to their self-esteem and self-confidence. Contrast them
with relatives and friends who scored well and received excellent
admissions, or who scored poorly and were forced to settle for
mediocre institutes or pay donations. By comparing their children to
others, parents believe they are instilling a competitive spirit in
their children. Nobody, however, enjoys being compared. Rather than
competing, many children simply give up, reasoning that their parents
will never be satisfied and that nothing will ever make them happy, so
why bother? Continue to reassure them that, regardless of their
performance, you believe in and love them.
