Aloha,
Supporters and ʻOhana members at Standing Rock are raising
funds to help Aunty
Pua Case and her daughter Hāwane Rios return to Standing Rock
from Hawai'i this
month. Both have been instrumental in the protection of Mauna
Kea and alongside
the Mauna Kea ʻOhana they have successfully stopped the
construction of a Thirty
Meter Telescope approved for the summit area. They are
currently in a second
Contested Case Hearing against a new proposed permit.
From Mauna Kea to Standing Rock, they are committed to
helping our native
communities with prayer, chants, dances and a spirit committed
to Kapu Aloha,
hearts aligned with and as strong as a mountain, unshakeable.
Aunty Pua and Hawane plan to travel to Standing Rock with
Chief Caleen Sisk
and members of Winnemem Wintu of Mount Shasta. Together they
have led a
movement focusing on "Showing up, Standing up and
Speaking up with hearts
aligned with and as strong as their mountains and rivers, unshakeable.
As cultural teachers and protectors Aunty Pua and Hawane
will be there to be
of service in the best and highest way possible including
meeting with
elders, providing inspiration and guidance through traditional Hawaiian
prayers and support , council for the youth and spreading the
message of
strength, healing and hope through music in solidarity and
Aloha for all.
As Aunty Pua states, " Our mountains, our waters, our
people, our
ceremonies continue to connect us throughout Hawaiʻi to lands
beyond our
shores. As we rise together in Aloha and Lōkahi, the
relationships and
alliances created are strengthened for this and the next seven generations.
Together we rise, a resilient people, a proud people, we
stand strong as a
