Ensuring that the Nuu Chah Nulth indigenous people of Pacific Northwest are bond together through the miracle of today’s technology
There are fourteen separate but related tribal nations located in the Pacific Northwest on the west coast of Vancouver Island. We are called the Nuu Chah Nulth people. Some of the groups have disappeared; some have been absorbed into neighboring areas; but it is clear that we have a history, a culture and a heritage that can be held together with the help of today’s technology!
My name is Gerald Jack. I have been raised with clear values based on the tradition to “always take care of the people.” My late mother Colleen and my grandfather Jerry both instilled that message in me since I was a very young boy, and it is now the mantra of my life.
In honor of this mantra, I am working on a project designed to give every Nuuchahnulth member access to free technology repair services on their personal computers, phones, and other smart devices. I truly believe that it’s important to stay connected both culturally and technically for our first nations to remain strong and stable.
It’s been my passion to work on setting up this free service for 9 years, and it’s finally nearing fruition. I have launched this campaign to take my vision to reality! And with your help I can soon begin offering free computer repair services to my people.
There are several steps that need to be taken. First we need to set up an office with all the tools needed to provide our services on a large scale. The next stage will involve a "stress test" to determine how many computers can be repaired in a specific time period. This stage will help us understand how many key people we will need to hire to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.
Our first stage will require $10,000 in tools, parts, work stations, tech stations, and online support tools for our techs. if we exceed our first goal we will be able to keep parts and screens for phones, tablets and smart device repairs on hand ready for installations. Future funding will cover employee and team costs.
But our first stage is to make sure that our infrastructure is in place to meet all the technology needs of the Nuu Chah Nulth nation.
