A Family Seeking Short-Term Assistance
Hello, my name is Chris, and it’s incredibly difficult for me to reach out for help. At the age of 50, I recently experienced the loss of my job after 22 dedicated years when the company I worked for closed its doors unexpectedly in late 2025. Unfortunately, I did not receive any severance pay. Despite diligently searching for new employment for nearly six months, and nearly 100 applications, I have only received three responses, one of which was an interview. Regrettably, I was not selected by the company I interviewed with. Adding to our challenges, my wife has faced a series of health issues, requiring hospitalization five times in the last six months, which has led to overwhelming medical debts. The icing on the cake? Our refrigerator stopped working, leaving only our freezer for food storage. Our savings are completely depleted, my unemployment benefits have been exhausted, and we find ourselves at a critical juncture.
It's an unpleasant and distressing reality to confront at this age—being unable to provide for my wife and daughter. Asking for assistance is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, but with only a handful of faintly promising job prospects that might present themselves in the near future, I find myself in a position where I need to ensure that we can keep the lights on, keep the water running, and keep food on the table long enough to regain a stable footing. Even as I write this, we are behind on all utilities, with cut-off imminent, and forbearance on our mortgage ends in August.
We find ourselves in a challenging situation, and we urgently seek your assistance! We estimate that a contribution of $5,000 will provide us with the crucial breathing room needed for me to re-enter the workforce and secure a regular paycheck once again.
