Help Iulian see again and follow his calling to become a priest

Iulian graduated in Theology and dreams of becoming a priest. For him, faith is not just a field of study, but a true calling – the desire to be there for people, to support them and bring hope where it is needed.

Today, however, his path is deeply affected by a serious vision problem.

Everything started in 2019, after a minor car accident. Not wearing a seatbelt, Iulian hit the windshield with his head, and his eyeglasses shattered into his eyes. The glass fragments caused severe injuries – perforations and scarring of the cornea.

Over time, bacteria entered through these injuries, leading to a serious eye infection – a corneal ulcer. He was hospitalized and treated with antibiotics, and for a short time it seemed things were improving.

Unfortunately, the situation worsened. The infection developed into a much more severe condition, and his vision became covered by a grey haze.

He was hospitalized again for three weeks, receiving intensive antibiotic treatment every hour, from morning until evening. Due to complications and treatments, the cornea became opaque, leading to corneal dystrophy.

Iulian could no longer see. He was practically blind for 6 months, confined to bed, going through immense suffering.

During this difficult time, his mother, deeply affected by his condition, suffered a heart attack and passed away on March 17, 2020.

His father, now retired, made great sacrifices and borrowed money to give him a chance. Iulian underwent his first cornea transplant in a private clinic in Bucharest. Unfortunately, after two months, the transplant was rejected.

More surgeries followed, including on the other eye, some performed under difficult conditions and only with local anesthesia. Sadly, the results were not successful.

Since 2020, Iulian has continued to struggle with severely impaired vision. Everything is blurred, unclear, and everyday activities have become a constant challenge.

After many consultations in Romania, he finally found a new hope: specialized surgeries in Italy, where doctors recommended a full reconstruction through new cornea transplants.

The total cost – surgeries, consultations, travel and treatment over a period of up to 2 years – is  50,000 €.

We aim to raise this amount by  June 14, 2026.

For Iulian, vision means more than daily comfort. It means independence, the ability to read again, and the chance to follow his calling to serve others as a priest.
