The Story of Lifetimes
It might surprise you to know, but I’ve lived in this house since the mid 80’s. Everything I’ve ever done has been related to this house. Memories of my parents laughing, playing, and just being lovable weirdos. The time my dad made homemade firecrackers in his ashtray, then, in a flash, burned his eyebrows off because he forgot to rinse it out. Then there was when my mom took me to the hospital when I cracked my chin on the tub… 4 hours of me saying “nope” to stitches before everyone just gave up. My friends, family, pets, and everything has been part of this house. This house is built on memories, and the promise of more to come.
As such, my life took a turn. With the onslaught of federal agents on the streets of Minneapolis, there has created a decided difficulty when it comes to working. My mental and physical health have degraded, and things have gotten tougher and tougher. Seeing the writing on the wall, I declared bankruptcy due to stacking bills. However, there are some unpaid mortgage payments that need to be paid, and that’s why I’m here. The breakdown is $9000. If it was just me, it would be an easy task of tightening my belt and moving forward.
However, it isn’t just me. My partner has an autistic teenage son who needs supervision. SNAP benefits have been frozen in Minnesota, all federal funding has stopped for that matter. This means a struggle for many families, including ours. We appreciate you looking into your hearts and offering what you can. I want the best for this family, and what better than the home I have loved for my entire life. He lost his father less than a year ago, something I can only vaguely understand having lost my dad when I was in my early thirties. That was bad enough, I can't even imagine what it would have been like losing my dad at 13.
This house has been my home since... well... forever. It is a place I want to become a sanctuary, a place of peace and harmony. We have so many plans; gardens, a forge, even a stick built hut for the front yard. It will be magical, and I plan to continue moving forward, and with just a little help, I can make that push.
Update:
We have almost reached $500 and my heart is absolutely soaring! In the meantime, my partner and I have been headed to regular food shelves and distributing food to our neighbors who are afraid to leave their homes unless it is absolutely necessary. Each donation means our community is stronger and better set for whatever comes! Thank you!
