Hello, I’m an independent developer.
I created an app called SafeGuard: Auto SOS SMS+Call
–
an Android application (with an iOS version in development)
that automatically sends SOS texts and places calls when
you’re no longer able to press the emergency button yourself.
I’ve read too many real stories that make you think:
“If only there had been a way at that moment…”
In many accidents and violent incidents, the truly deadly factor
isn’t “not having a phone.”
It’s that in the critical moment, the person simply
cannot call for help.
They faint, get trapped in a car crash, collapse alone at home, are
physically restrained or drugged.
Sometimes the phone is in a bag
or has been taken away.
The phone is still there, the SOS button
is technically still on the screen –
but the person no longer has
the ability to tap it.
Sometimes they are still conscious, but so panicked that they can’t think clearly enough to call for help.
SafeGuard: Auto SOS SMS+Call is designed exactly to fill that gap.
It runs quietly in the background and lets you define your
own guard conditions.
When it detects an abnormal situation, it
will automatically:
-
Send an SMS with your location to your pre-selected contacts
-
Automatically place a phone call, so they know “something is wrong, and roughly where you are”
Depending on your needs, you can enable different Guard Modes, for example:
-
Long period of no phone interaction
→ Treated as a possible collapse or loss of consciousness, triggers a guard action. -
Strong impact
→ Treated as a possible car accident, triggers a guard action. -
You go out on a date and then go completely silent
→ Treated as potential violence or drugging, triggers a guard action. -
(With a compatible device) sustained abnormal heart rate – too high or too low
→ Treated as a possible assault or serious medical emergency, triggers a guard action. -
Leaving a safe zone or being taken to specific high-risk locations
→ Continuously shares your location with trusted contacts.
This is not a flashy social app, and it’s
not a project backed by a big company.
It is an
automatic safety system built specifically for
those few minutes when you cannot call for help yourself.
Where I want to take SafeGuard next
I don’t plan to stop at the current guard modes.
My goal is to
turn SafeGuard into a more complete “auto-guard
system”, including:
-
Developing an iOS version, so more people can rely on the same protection
-
Adding more scenario-specific guard modes, such as:
-
Water immersion / drowning guard
-
Violence-related guard modes
-
More fine-grained preventive safety and early-warning features
-
Why I need your support
I’m asking for your support simply because my personal financial
resources are very limited.
At first, I thought that if I built
the system and genuinely solved the problem,
the promotion and
outreach would slowly catch up on their own.
But after walking this path for a while, I realized:
to reach
more people, to continuously test and refine the guard logic –
both the time and the cost go far beyond what one person can carry.
I know I’m working on something that feels right,
but
after several months of public feedback, it’s also clear to me
that:
with just one person’s time and savings, this system can
only go so far.
This is not a game.
There is no “pay-to-win” mechanic, no
emotional excitement from spending money on skins or loot
boxes.
“Safety” is something abstract in most people’s minds
–
people usually don’t feel they need it until after
something has already happened.
Many people only realize after an incident that:
“There was nothing in the world that could automatically call for help for me
when I couldn’t move or reach my phone.”
I want SafeGuard to be that already-existing
option –
not just a “what if” that only appears in
someone’s regrets after the fact.
So this time, I chose to start a fundraising campaign,
not to
wrap it up as some glossy business plan,
but very simply because
I don’t want the system to be stuck in an immature or
unreliable state just because I run out of money.
I hope that through your support, this safety system can be properly
maintained,
continue to grow more complete,
and have enough
strength behind it to bring this concept to more people who truly need it.
The funds raised in this campaign will be used as next year’s
development and maintenance budget.
If, in the future,
the app’s revenue can roughly cover its ongoing costs,
I will
stop or reduce fundraising and leave resources to other people and
projects that need them more.
How your support will be used
Your contribution will be used for:
-
Continuously maintaining and improving SafeGuard’s stability and reliability
-
Purchasing and testing different devices and real-world scenarios,
so that the guard logic better matches how incidents actually happen -
Creating multi-language content and documentation,
and promoting the app in more countries and regions,
so more people can understand it and have the chance to use this system
If you believe this too…
If you also believe that:
When a person is in danger,
there should be a system in this world
that can automatically send
“They’re in trouble, and here’s where they are”
to someone they trust,
then I sincerely ask for your help.
Every bit of support you give here
helps this system stay alive
a little longer,
and protect a few more people.
If you find this meaningful, it would mean a lot to me if you could
also share it with people around you
and help spread the
awareness of how important automatic SOS systems can be.
Thank you for taking the time to read all of this. 🙏
