💔 After heart surgery and debt, we just want a fresh start

Hi, my name is Fábio. I’m a 44-year-old father of two amazing boys, Enrico (5) and Filippo (4), and a financial advisor from Brazil. I’ve always worked hard to support my family — but in 2019, our lives changed forever.

While my wife was pregnant with our first son, doctors diagnosed him with a severe congenital heart defect. Since then, we’ve been through an emotional and financial storm: surgeries, treatments, high medical costs, and the collapse of everything we had built.

We sold our house, our cars, and even today I only own a motorcycle to get to work. My income dropped from BRL 45,000 ($9,000) to BRL 25,000 ($5,000), and our total debts exceeded BRL 700,000 (~$140,000) due to loans, credit cards, medical bills, and now rent (we used to own our home).

Our son Enrico needs regular cardiology care, including $1,200 consultations every three months and a $1,000/month health insurance plan for the family — which we can’t live without. Last month, he had a health emergency that cost us $3,000 in medications and exams.

We are emotionally exhausted, and our financial situation is unsustainable. I’ve tried everything. I even had a suicidal crisis recently… but I’m still here, because my family needs me — and I still believe in compassion.

We’re not asking for luxury. We’re asking for a chance to breathe again.
