I am excited and hopeful to once again be hosting the Conference On Religious Trauma, otherwise known as CORT. Last year our inaugural event was very well received, with over 320 people wanting tickets!
As you can imagine, a conference this significant and comprehensive is very expensive to put together, and so far I am doing it on my own. Last year, it cost me about $14,000 to bring CORT2021 to fruition. I need your help to cover some of the associated costs of CORT2022, including (but not limited to):
- Website development & hosting
- Scholarships & bursaries for those in financial need
- Speaker honorariums
- Advertising
- Event planning fees
I want the Conference On Religious Trauma to be as meaningful and accessible as possible, which is why I need your help. My aim for the conference is two-fold, so that:
- Therapists can become educated about issues related to religious trauma in order to better help their clients, and
- Attendees who are recovering from RTS (Religious Trauma Syndrome) will learn more about it, feel supported on their journey, and potentially connect with RTS/trauma-informed therapists, consultants, and coaches.
The current interplay between religion, politics, and conspiracy theories makes this conference extremely important. Thousands of people are rejecting religion and trying desperately to understand what they've lost - as well as what life can look like moving from the sacred to the secular realm.
As one who has made this painful but liberating journey, I recognize the incredible need for both education and support. This is particularly true of those who have left clergy, missionary, or church-support positions.
Your donation will help further the impact of the Conference on Religious Trauma. Last year I was able to offer bursaries to about 10 attendees - this year I hope to offer even more!
