Mike Carriere hasn't added a story.

Sheila Sedinger is my dear fiancée, she is a 27 year old professional Massotherapist, loving mother of two young girls, loyal partner and devoted friend. She is a proud Montrealer and has made her life here since 2005.

She had been accepted as a permanent Resident in Canada through a sponsorship back in 2008, her 2 lovely daughters are born Canadian, she has lived happily in Montreal for 9 years with Canadian customs in our beautiful country and she is far from immigrant, whereas in her country of birth was severely bullied and lived a series of violent and traumatic experiences. Here in Montreal she has been able to find peace, to unite with her family and she finally found a place that she could call home.

Sheila lived a huge nightmare for years protecting her children and ensuring their safety. The person who sponsored her for her status of permanent residency was accused of a criminal act in 2008 and was convicted in 2011 for breaking the leg of Sheila's youngest daughter while Sheila was sleeping. At that time the baby was only three weeks old. The person (who wishes to have their identity unknown) had become inadmissible to sponsor her, therefore her accepted application of permanent residency was nullified.

Immigration Canada never informed her of the change in the application status. Sheila had contacted Immigration Canada to verify her permanent residency status and was told there had been no changes Sheila had never had any problems with her status since she arrived here.

But In May of 2014 Immigration Canada suddenly called her to say that she had to leave Canada and revealed the facts that were hidden from her even after a number of telephone calls made by Sheila previously.

With the help of our lawyer Me. Angela Potvin and your generous contributions we submitted her applications for permanent residence under humanitarian grounds, a sponsorship application from me (her common law and husband-to-be), and an application for a Temporary Residence Permit. However, we were told she must leave Canada on June 26th. The deportation agent refused to grant a stay so we were forced to apply to go to the Federal Court. At the last minute, our lawyer received a call from the deportation agent saying that there was no need to go to the federal court and that they would allow her to stay indefinitely unless there was a drastic change in her circumstances.

We thought that everything was fine. However, on July 4th while Sheila was in court for the custody of her two daughters, a court representative of the Minister of Immigration appeared to make sure she obtained the passports for her daughters. On July 7th, in another appointment with the deportation agent, we were informed that they were only giving her a chance to get the passport of her children so that she could take them with her, not allowing her to finish the Custody arrangements, but that, one way or another, she had to leave - with or without them. The agent gave her a new deportation date for August 30th. This is the birthday of her youngest daughter whose leg was broken 6 years ago by her previous sponsor.

The very next day, our lawyer requested that the deportation be suspended. Three weeks later and after a lot of insisting, we finally received a negative response. Once again, we applied to the Federal Court; The hearing is scheduled for August 26th, four days before her deportation date.

Sheila presently suffers from Intense Chronic PTSD because of the violent and traumatic experiences she had while living in Mexico, she has an injured leg and walks painfully with the support of a cane, she hasn't been able to get treatment for hereditary pre-cancerous cells on her uterus since immigration cut off access to all her resources and documents.

Sheila's oldest daughter suffers from severe speech delay that impacts significantly her learning abilities, both girls are emotionally fragile and presently receiving support from several institutions.

Canadian Border Services Agency has not even allowed her to finish her divorce and custody arrangements, deporting her would separate her 2 daughters from each other and their mother, and it would devastate a whole community of friends and family, she is the light of our way, and the terror that would cause her going back would ruin her forever.... we can’t let this happen, they have suffered enough and we need for Sheila to stay in Canada.

I have set up this page for my darling fiancé so we can collect funds to pay for:

-the lawyer fees

-the rest of the government costs

-Family's needs, specifically for food, funds for school fees (is approx. $200 for school fees per child), transport fees ($80 approx. for the opus cam and $50 for the student opus)

Anything helps right now.
