Hi! I go by Mazi.
I'm currently medically unable to work, and my doctor has me off
until next year. I had been relying on EI sickness benefits to keep
myself and my cat afloat, but those benefits have now run out... I'm
actively applying for longer-term disability and every other program
available to me in my province, but, both take time - and
unfortunately... my bills don't pause while I wait.
Right now i'm trying to raise $1,200 + extra now, to hopefully
get me to my doctors appointment soon to help cover roughly one month
of essential living expenses while I work through those applications
and figure out what comes next for me.
Asking for help is... not something I ever thought I'd need to
be doing, it's difficult and extremely humbling. I've spent a lot of
time trying to figure out other options, but I've reached the point
where I can't make the number work on my own anymore...
My basic monthly expenses come to roughly:
- $630 for Rent + past due of $65
- $410 for Car Payment

$165 for Insurance (Not due until August 31st)
- $35 for my
prepaid phone plan. (Due August 11th)
- Around $200 for
medications (I've applied to the provinces prescription program... but
again, it takes time.)
- Groceries, gas, and other basic
necessities (including cat food & litter)
Everything I'm asking for is entirely focused on keeping me
housed, fed, medicated, and able to get to appointments while I wait
for other support to be approved.
I'm not expecting this to solve everything but, right now, I'm
just trying to give myself time, trying to lessen the stress just a
little so I can focus on getting everything I need submitted to get
the help I desperately need.
Any amount helps more than I can properly express. And if
donating isn't possible, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as
much to me.

I am now past due on rent and out of one of my arguably, most
important medications...
Update July 31st, 2026
I am now past due on rent and car insurance... I've also been
scheduled for a medical appointment 690km away (one-way) and after
reaching out to the provinces support programs for medical travel none
are able to help upfront, which means I'm not responsible for the
costs of gas (estimated $364), meals, and possible accommodations
(honestly looking at sleeping in my car). I've until August 27th...
