My name is Fernanda, and I am the mother of my little warrior, Kinberly. She was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA), a rare and cruel disease that took away something every child deserves: the ability to move, swallow, and breathe on her own.

Since the day she came into this world, our lives have become a daily struggle. Kinberly lives surrounded by wires and machines that keep her alive. Every day is a battle for her to stay by my side. At night, I can hardly sleep, afraid that a single cough, a power outage, or a machine failure could take my daughter away from me.

My greatest dream is simple: to bring my daughter home. I want her to feel the warmth of the little room I prepared before she was born. I want to see her smile without the constant noise of hospital machines. I want her to have the chance to live like any other child.

But for this to happen, she needs special equipment and care from trained professionals — because even the smallest mistake could cost her life.

I am deeply grateful to Dr. Diego Oliveira and the entire team at Hospital Abelardo Santos. They are doing everything they can to keep my daughter with me, but Kinberly needs much more. Every minute counts. Every second can be the difference between life and death.
