For those who may not have been in touch with Owen in recent
years, he is a former Teach for America Corp Member, elementary and
middle school teacher, teacher mentor & professional development
leader, and school principal. Most recently he has been working
with Northwestern Mutual to help clients plan and save for
retirement. He has spent his career taking care of others and
working tirelessly to help students and colleagues grow, thrive and
feel cared for.
If you know Owen, you know he’d be the first to jump in and give anything that’s needed to help someone out, and the last to ask for help for himself. Now it’s our turn to help him. As you may have read on his Caring Bridge page (link below), he has been battling aggressive brain cancer since 2019, and despite multiple rounds of surgery, radiation and chemo, was recently given a heartbreaking prognosis of 6-10 months. His care team, along with Danielle, his wife and tireless supporter, are working hard with Owen to prepare for another round of radiation and a renewed focus on treatments and lifestyle changes that give him the quality of life he deserves.
With such a huge group of people who love and care about Owen, let’s do what we can to support him and alleviate extra stressors so he and his wife can focus on their health and happiness, and navigate this unimaginably difficult season of life. Whatever you can give is appreciated. Let’s work together to help our very own Captain America, who deserves all of the love and support his network of friends and family can pull together to give him.
