Hi to friends and community!

My name is Story. My sister Laurie is helping me to set up this FundRazr. My gender-affirming top surgery that I've sat on a waitlist for over 2 years to get (Although I have wanted it for over a decade!) has been scheduled for May 28th!!! It would mean so much if we could get some community support in helping to get me through the rest of the process and able to start the next part of my life safely.

Even though most of my surgery costs are covered by Canada's health care and a compassion fund, I have a young adult son named Alexander who is my everything. He recently has been going through serious health complications with his Autism and Mental Health that mean he has been hospitalized since November. To pay for the support workers he needed that aren't covered I had to use all of my savings, including the remaining balance for my surgery costs not covered by insurance, and the recovery funds I had saved up. I am on Disability for Fibromyalgia and I am my son's case manager and trustee - something that requires more attention now as Adults in the system do not get as much reliable support. The current challenges of my son's case combined with my Fibromyalgia and Arthritis makes it difficult for me to try to resume part-time employment anytime soon.

My sister and I are asking for financial assistance to cover the remainder of my surgery not covered by insurance, which comes to just short of $400.00 CAD. If we exceed our goal, the additional amount will be used to pay for recovery expenses such as grocery and meal delivery, laundry and cleaning services, appointment transportation costs, and physiotherapy.

I am highly aware of how challenging these times are for everyone, so any support of this campaign whether it be donating or sharing this campaign would be appreciated. The process of making my outside match my inside has been changing everything for me for the better. I want to keep going, and I want to keep giving back to my son and the community. Please help ease this part of my journey. I appreciate any assistance that can be given. Thank you!!!
