Grace, So-Yung, Sumi, and Liv got their workshops and caucus approved for NQAPIA 2018 National Conference! Help us get there. Money is going towards traveling, hotel, and conference fees. In addition to simply donating, you can also book us to facilitate one of our workshops. Since we are also artists, performance artists, cultural workers, food enthusiasts, herbalists, activists and organizers we are also willing to come perform or present on other topics, or in other ways. Let us know how we can partner with you to help us raise money!

Sumi is a writer, educator, and herbalist. She teaches food justice cooking classes at an urban farm school in Durham, NC and writes a queer love column for the movement called Love School with Sumi. She is passionate about politicized healing informed by feminists of color.
Description for Sumi's Workshop - "API Love School"
Everyday through small, daily practices we shape the culture of love and intimacy we breathe and be in. What if this love grows in all directions? Touching not only our individual past, but reaches back through our family line, and pulls us onward towards visions of love which heal the cultural expectations and sexual shame of generations to come? This workshop invites us to be in a powerful conversation with our distinct lineages about the healthy relationship practices we need (and to shift from ableist concepts of ‘health’ which uphold white supremacy & shame). What do you need to say to those at your back, yourself, and the future you can’t see, about the unstoppable love you’re fighting for?
Description for Grace, Liv, and So-Yung's workshop - "Adoption Abolition: Dismantling Dominant Adoption Narratives"
Western adoption has long been a part of US imperialism, resulting in thousands of adoptees growing up in North America and Europe. During this workshop, participants will critically examine the dominant narratives and power dynamics surrounding the practice of adoption. As people of Asian descent, specifically as queer and trans folks, how does disrupting these dominant narratives and forming solidarity with adoptee communities further deepen our broader collective social justice work and healing within diasporas?
Description for Grace, Liv, and So-Yung's Caucus - Adoptee Caucus
Being adopted is a complicated experience. While many of us may have been adopted into loving families, there is no denying the trauma of being taken from one's birth family and country. Within this caucus, queer and trans adoptees will have an opportunity to connect with one another and discuss the complexities of our lives. Discussion topic will be lead by the group.
