My family and I have taken care of our cats for nearly two years. We’ve done our best to keep our house clean and the cats healthy. For two years, we’ve never had any problems with keeping the cats and recently, there have been talk to give the renters (we live in government housing and originally, we aren’t allowed to keep pets, but they tend to look over it if we’re keeping our place in line) special permits to keep pet at home. Unfortunately, this morning my mum told me that we’ve been told that we are no longer allowed to keep our cats because someone had reported that our house smells. Something of which if it had been a problem could be solved by talking with us. We don’t know who had gone out of their way to report us and other tenants who are affected as well.

Here’s the facts that I do know; they are going to come to our house on possibly March 30th (I’ve been told the date could change), remove our cats and put them up for adoption. If no one were to come and adopt them in two weeks, they will be killed.

Five of our cats are adult cats. Zuko, Hiro, Juma and Salem especially are not friendly to strangers and our house and the veterinary clinic are the only places they know. They run away from even our visiting relatives and would be too scared to approach anyone. Myu is friendly, however, she had just given birth to 4 babycats which will be up for adoption in two months (we have made a point not to care for more than six cats due to financial constraints). Momo is three months old and is far too curious for his own good.

I have asked family members and friends, even those who I hadn’t spoken to in years. So far, I haven’t heard anything positive back. Though I’m hoping one of them could take them temporarily.

The fund will be used for their temporary boarding at a local veterinary clinic which is about USD35 per night for 6 cats (excluding food) as well as transportation.
