Join me as I strive to enrich the lives of underprivileged children in Nepal through fundraising & volunteer work at orphanages and schools within the Kathmandu Valley within my 12 month stay.

Hi, my name is Leila Smith. On 15th February 2016 I will be moving to Kathmandu, Nepal to spend a 12 month period volunteering at orphanages, and schools and visiting remote areas to help struggling communities who lost everything due to last years earthquake.

This will be my third visit to what has become my second home. On my past visits I have set up a school lunch program for a school in the remote district of Kavre. Through donations to Samata Care Children's foundation I am able to feed 60 children and their teachers lunch each day for a cost of AU$200 per month. Without this program the children do not get a lunch time meal.

I have also enrolled a small abandoned girl named Smriti in school in Bhaktapur and purchased her uniform, shoes, school bag and stationary. With your donations I will continue to pay for her education. Without our help she will not be able to go to school.

On my 205 trip I developed a close relationship with Social Development Organisation Nepal who care for 9 orphaned girls ranging from 4 to 12 years of age. Last year I used the money raised by Samata Care to purchase new shoes and clothes for the girls. This year I would like to arrange dental checks for each girl and new school shoes.

I look forward to working again with volunteer group Together We Are, Together We Can - Nepal and Bhaktapur Animal Welfare Society who are caring for Nepal's street dogs by providing free sterilisation, vaccinations and operations.

This years donations will be spent continuing my ongoing projects whilst enroling more underprivileged children in schools and providing clothing, shoes and medical care for those in need.

I will be recieving no income for the full twelve months. I will be living off a small amount of savings that I have. The money you dontate will be going directly to the children of Nepal. There are no admin fees except the small 5% that this webpage takes from each donation. No wages are being taken from these donations.

Big Thanks to the Rajak Family who have invited me to spend the year in their small 4 room home in Kathmandu.

Stay tuned and subscribe for regular updates on this years projects.
