Kathleen Gallero hasn't added a story.
My name is Kati. I am the mother to 3 amazing and beautiful children.
My oldest is a daughter who is nothing short of perfection. Born at 36 weeks and to this day is healthy and smart as ever.
My second child is my Bubba. He was born at 35 weeks after an awful pregnancy. He is now 3. Bubba is currently being treated for bronchiecstasis with the possibility of having cystic fibrosis. He is also autistic and allergic to bees. At 18 months he had tubes in his ears (no biggie) and at 3 years has 2 daily inhalers, acid reflux meds, and allergy medicine. But he's the sweetest child you'd ever meet.
Our house burnt down last summer. While we were living between friends and family until we could get back on our feet financially I found out I was pregnant with baby number 3. (My birth control baby) This is little Baby J. Jordy. I found out I was pregnant at 16 weeks and by 28 I was hospitalized with preterm labor. Stayed a week and got to go home! Then at 31 weeks my kidney started shutting down. As I was getting my shoes on to go to the emergency room my water broke. I had emergency surgery that night, and Baby J came into this world 2 days later. (Though I woke up from surgery in active labor) Jordy was 32 weeks.
I got to go home a few days after his delivery, but he had to stay in the NICU. About a week after I went home I ended up back in the hospital in the ICU. I had gone septic. My blood pressure was extremely low and the pain was excruciating. I was there 10 days.
I got to go home, but Jordy stayed a month. We drove to and from every day, sometimes multiple times.
Things became extremely hard financially, but we managed to pull through. A work schedule for me was hard because of Jordy having therapy 3 days a week, and Bubba once a week, but we managed it.
Then I started getting really sick. It started as headaches, then I'd lose the ability to use my arm or leg. Then I started losing my vision. And my memory. I would be going somewhere and all of a sudden have no idea where I was or how to get home.
Then my issues cost me my job. I ended up on the ground in a horse field with no idea what happened and immediately became a huge liability.
Even facing my issues, the kids have still been having theirs. Bubba going to and from pulmonologist, and Jordy had a double hernia repair that gave him another hospital stay. He has a class 3 lip tie and class 3 lateral tongue tie. These make eating very difficult for him, and the closest doctor to us that has the ability to operate is about 6 hours away and out of state. They're also out of insurance coverage.
After months of many different doctors and many different tests I was diagnosed with epilepsy. (Though I had no idea I was even having seizures) I have been having up to 16 a day. Neurologist thinks the sepsis triggered the epilepsy. My most recent eeg showed that the meds aren't controlling the seizures.
I'm not allowed to work, and not eligible for social security yet. We thought we were finally back on our feet after the fire. Now Daddy is working 2 jobs (walking about 2 1/2 hours a day to do so because our car broke down and we can't even afford to fix it) and we still will not be able to keep our home if we don't get some kind of a break.
I'm not good at asking for stuff, but at this point we really need help to get Jordy his surgery, help us keep our heads above water until my seizures are under control or I'm eligible for social security (4 months) and to get my daughter something special. A toy she picks, a game she wants, craft things, just something. Because with the boys being sick and me having my issues she has been the absolute greatest blessing. She's completely empathetic and never upset that she doesn't get equal time, or that I'm too sore to be able to do fun things with her. And at the least, she deserves rewarded for that.
Thanks for reading our story. Every penny, every prayer. They all count.
These illnesses will NOT beat us. They will NOT win. We're a fighting family. ;)
