The Dando Amor Orphanage in need

Many items have been taken from our orphanage. I had to come to Ecuador a few weeks ago because of a necessary change in our directors.  We are dedicated to having a safe home for these children to live, and receive an education.  We are constantly working toward having these children either adopted, or if that is no longer an option making sure they have the skills to make it on their own.

With the change in directors, many items were taken from the orphanage.  We are not in the financial situation to replace the items that are gone. I am working hard to find Ecuadorian sponsors to help as well. 

Some of the items we are now living without are, a refrigerator this make it very difficult to keep any food items from spoiling. We are in need of many pots and pans, we do no have enough dishes or chairs to have all the children eat together. The shelving to store food items were taken as well.  We are need of bedding. We need a computer to operate our security cameras, which are in each room, as well as outside.  When we started this orphanage, many of these items came with the directors, which was helpful because the cost to start an orphanage is huge.   But, now with those directors gone, we are in need of many items.

We always bring what we can from the USA, but coming through customs is often a problem.  So, many times it is easier to purchase needed items in country. With a new 10-year-old coming to the home, we are short on clothing in his size.  He is very small, and came very weak and malnutritioned.   Taking care of and feeding 16 children is not an easy task, there are many other items that cost money for example, their schooling, health, dental, and legal work to get them adoptable.  Many children have come having all forms of abuse, and we work hard to get the children counseling, and work with a few children psychologist as well.

I know there are constantly fundraisers going for so many things on Face Book.  We appreciate all the love and support so many give.  I promise you we are frugal and careful with all of the donations we receive.   Neither I nor anybody take any salary from Dando Amor.  Many people ask how we live… I sold my studio and many other items which gave my family the necessary means to work full time for Dando Amor. I also continue to do a few photography assignments through out the year.  I only tell you this to assure you that your donations go directly to the children.  I am dedicated to keeping donations to Dando Amor that way.
