Katie & Dan Jorgensens baby girls Stella!
As many of you know little Stella Kay Jorgensen has been battling seizures since her first episode, at barely 7 months old, on October 8th, 2014. Since that date she and her family has endured more than they would ever imagine. Stella has suffered a total of 6 seizures (that they are aware of). She has been transported via ambulance 8 times and once by airplane to Omaha on a stormy night. She has been scanned, probed, pocked, prodded, examined and evaluated over and over. What once was thought to be febrile seizures - which are common in small children and perfectly harmless - has been discounted and now is considered Epilepsy. Stella, along with her mom and dad, has spent countless hours, days and nights at Faith Regional in Norfolk and at Children's Hospital in Omaha waiting for some kind of answers to ease the worry and the fear of what is next.
Stella is currently on anti-seizure medicine that seems to keep things in check. However, as she grows the meds have to adjust - usually after a seizure. This is heartbreaking and unacceptable.
Now January, Stella has had more tests and is waiting to meet a new doctor.
We all want to help, we want to do something to make this less painful and less stressful. One of the things that weighs heavily on Dan and Katie is the medical expenses. One airplane transport, and 8 trips via ambulance is enough to choke anyone! Then add all the x-rays, scans, blood work, and numerous overnight stays at both hospitals. Some of the procedures Stella has had, and will have, are not covered by insurance and some are just slightly covered. The emotion this family is facing with that sweet babies condition is bad enough, imagine how horrible it must feel to have horrendous medical expenses building up.
That's where all of us come in. If we band together we can make a difference. Unbeknownst to Dan and Katie a group of family members; Dad (Leon/Butch Wagner), Mom and step Dad (Candace & Jon Downey), sister (Kayla Wagner), aunties (Lisa Johnson & Lynn Finkral), and cousin-in-law (Tonya Hoff) have set up a Benefit account with First National Bank in Norfolk for Stella's medical expenses where you can make a donation of any amount. You may have heard about Stella's story and thought, 'what can I do that would be most helpful?' You can donate to the cause......make a difference for Stella and her family.
Let's all pull together, lets 'Step Up For Stella'.
On behalf of Dan, Katie, Braxton and little miss Stella.................Thank you & God Bless.
