Zeno Jami hasn't added a story.
Hello friends and fellow Kittie lovers,
I know many of you will have read my ongoing story regarding my 2 lovely ginger boys, Becku & Brownie and my plan to take them back with me from to India by the 21st December 2014.
And I have been helped so far by so many people, especially Phil Grange, Hend Alharbi, Paula Williams, Linda Tedd, Larisa Mukhomorova, Alex Sandra, David Butcher, Nada Suleiman, Jasmeen Bhirani, Mania Masha, Fiona Durrant-Ewing, Jade Al-Mashhdany, Geeta Tickoo Shetty , Anna Uzarowska, Amy Adams , Deb Rawlins, Shradz Gh and many others with advice and assistance.
What I have really found out so far is that the cost of taking my 2 precious boys with me to Goa is well beyond my meager means and so I want to respectfully request for donations so I can raise sufficient funds to take them home so that they have a happy, good and secure life. I really love both of them a lot as I treat them more as a family and not as pets. Although I could share my current room with another room mate to cut down on my rental cost (after the previous roommate left 2 years ago), I never wanted my Becku’s safety to be jeopardized as I was unsure about how a new roommate would treat him or whether she would put him out of the flat when I was not at home.
It is estimated, that when all said and done, the cost of taking my boys to Goa will be in excess of AED 11,000 (taking into account airline costs, agent costs, UAE government costs, 2 approved cat carriers, NOC from India and Vet fees etc.). I honestly did not think it would be that much and I am quite shocked.
If you can find it in your heart to make a donation (however small) I would be so grateful and I know my boys would be catstatic too!
Coming to the story of my cats (so far); Becku was born in my flat by a stray cat who used to enter through the bathroom window. We fell in love with the kitten and kept him although our landlord and flat mates were against cats and me feeding them. I convinced them that Becku had nowhere to go and I was now his guardian. And that’s how the story began with my kitten Becku, who is now a big boy of almost 4 yrs. Here he is dreaming and sleeping on a Friday morning near the balcony entrance. He likes the sunshine but at the same time he likes to be inside the room so he can be with me.
The small kitty, Brownie is Becku's nephew, born to his step sister who used to live in our building. His foster parent couldn’t manage to take good care of him and protect him, so that’s how I now have Brownie with me as well. They are 2 gorgeous boys and love to be around each other and I just can’t bear to leave Dubai and not take them with me.
If I do succeed in taking them to India, they will live in my parents’ house in Moira, Goa with me and my parents. We have a big garden and there are lots of plants, birds and butterflies. Their life will be much more pleasant there as here they have only one room and occasionally get a chance to sit in the balcony and look at passing vehicles on the road.
I have been in Dubai - United Arab Emirates, since several years and I am disturbed seeing the troubles of so many street cats and their struggle for survival. I have many cats residing in the corridors of my building and I take care of their food and medical needs and recently helped a big feral cat who just appeared one day outside my door with 50% of his neck very badly bitten (probably he was involved in a fight), I knew his survival rate would be 5% as his wound was fresh, but with antibiotics and proper medication which he willingly agreed to take, his wound is now completely healed. He also lives in our building and comes on and off for food and water. He is a very sweet guy and in his eyes I only see his heartfelt thankfulness for his healing and wellbeing. I plan to spay and neuter the cats in my building before I leave town. I do not want them to be of want of food and water once Im gone and I will do my best to find them homes as they are so friendly cats and kittens. I feel its my responsibility towards street cats as I cannot bear to see their plight of hunger and thirst. I like to carry water n dry cat food in my bag n feed kitties which I find near thrash cans whenever I am on the road doing errands. I wish I could do more for them.
Coming back to my two boys, you can donate:
- you can donate cash directly to the Modern Veterinary Clinic (on Al Wasl Road) Dubai - United Arab Emirates under the name, “Becku & Brownie's trip to Goa, care of Phil Grange” and if the “ target” is surpassed, all extra money will go to the Bin Kitty TNR funds at this vet.
We would all dearly love to stay together and with your kind support you could help make this happen. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
