Dear Friends, Family & Community, 

On November 13th, 2023 Amy Diana Ramirez, my beloved friend and devoted mother to Josephine Jenni, received the devastating news of being diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer, Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC). She discovered the alarming mass during a routine shower, setting off a journey marked by the harrowing decision to undergo a radical double mastectomy on December 20th, 2023. Amy’s resilience shines through the challenges she faces. However, the financial burden is overwhelming. Amidst a recent divorce, she lost her private medical insurance, leaving her with minimal coverage through the Colorado Health Exchange—a plan not universally accepted. The costs of treating this relentless cancer, coupled with the intricate and time-consuming process of reconstruction, are daunting. Chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and potential out-of-state treatments are in Amy’s future, each requiring significant time and financial resources. Her recent surgery has left her physically altered, and the staged breast reconstruction ahead promises a lengthy recovery. Amy, with a Master’s Degree in Psychology and a background in health and beauty, had aspirations of returning to  a fulltime career, after 10 years of being a fulltime mother, but they have been abruptly halted. Moreover, Amy grapples not only with the physical toll but also with the emotional weight of recent losses—the death of her cousin Aaron, the heart-wrenching breast cancer diagnosis, and the tragic passing of her only sister, Maya. This burden has led her to seek support from mental health professionals to navigate the profound impact on her mind and soul. Her 10-year-old daughter, Josie, a master of memes, a collector of Cats v Pickles and aspiring artist, is a young soul full of creativity and innocence, facing the challenges alongside her mother. Now, as Amy awaits the pathology report and undergoes further tests to ensure the cancer has not spread, we stand united to offer our support. Let’s join hands to alleviate the financial strain and contribute to Amy’s healing journey, allowing her to focus on reclaiming her life, pursuing her dreams, and cherishing moments with her daughter. Together, we can make a difference in Amy’s fight against cancer.
