Somewhere in thedeserts of Baja California, between cactus shadows and ocean waves, I found my sound. It has always been there, waiting. Sometimes in the howling wind, sometimes in the laughter of old friends, sometimes in the silence of long travels.I’m Alfie Moctezuma, and music has been my way of making sense of this strange, beautiful, chaotic world. Through the years, I’ve played, wandered, lost and found myself in music—whether with Daturas, Moctezuma’s Revenge, or now, in this new chapter with Imaginary Friends.This album is a love letter to the journey, to the ghosts of songs that have followed me across borders—from the deserts of Baja to the streets of Berlin and the fjords of Norway, where I visit my daughter. Every place leaves a melody behind, and somehow, they all found their way into this record.But I didn’t do this alone. Far from it. This album wouldn’t exist without the magic of friends and musicians who poured their hearts into it. A huge part of Imaginary Friends was shaped by the incredible José Aviña (Lobo), who helped me bring these songs to life, and by The Shamans from San José del Cabo, whose raw energy and soul made this album something special.
