For years I have told my children that God uses other people as his hands and feet. We need to tell people our need so that God can use them to meet that need. Well now I need to put my money where my mouth is, so to speak.
Halie, our youngest has had Africa on her heart since she heard an African missionary speak at a Montana Shepherds Conference, several years ago. She knows that she is called to missionary work in Africa, at least for a time. She currently attends a Christian University because she believes that is where God has called her to be. She has worked very hard to raise the extra money needed to go to a Christian University. She started applying for scholarships as a sophomore in High School. She knows her father and I can’t help her anymore than we could help her older sisters.
As a sophomore, she has an amazing opportunity to study abroad in Uganda for her second semester. She will live with a host family there and learn the Swahili language. Living with a family will show her what life is truly like in this part of Africa and what the needs are there. Children are also a soft spot in Halie’s heart and I imagine it won’t be long until she is working with the children in Uganda even while going to school.
I have to be honest, ever since she told me that she needs to raise over $10,000 for this opportunity, I have had panic attacks and had to pray, “Lord, I believe…help my unbelief.” My heart would break if she missed out on this opportunity, knowing there is no way we could pay for it. So now I have to believe what I tell my girls…if it is God’s will, it is God’s bill.
So her father and I are asking for your help to make this possible for Halie. Those of you that know me know how very hard it is for me to ask for help. But when it comes to my children, I will do whatever it takes. (so if you see me on a corner with a sign, you know why ) Halie is not worried however because she KNOWs that she knows that this is the path God has called her too and He WILL provide.
Any amount is appreciated! She has a long way to go and not much time. She leaves sometime in January of 2014. Will you be God’s hands and feet for our daughter and help her to follow the path God has laid out for her?
