Amber Patterson hasn't added a story.
Journeigh Leannah Bloom was born January 9, 2014. She weighed only 2 pounds, 6 ounces and was 14 inches long. She was born 12 weeks premature after being in the womb an additional 12 weeks with no amniotic fluid.
Journeigh's mommy Chelsea's water broke at 16 weeks. The doctors said that she would most likely lose the baby just to go home and wait it out. Journeigh wasn't ready to give up, she held on for 3 whole months fighting to stay alive.
The day after Christmas 2013, Chelsea was admitted to the hospital to recieve steroid shots to help mature baby Journeigh's little lungs. She was to stay in the hospital until baby was born.
January 9th, 2014 an ultrasound showed that Journeigh was in distress and had a chance of having her cord wrapped around her neck, the only solution was to give birth via C-Section.
We got to see Journeigh for a few minutes before they rushed her to the NICU at East Tennessee Children's Hopsital next door. She was having breathing problems and didn't want to accept the ventilator that they were putting her on. It was a very scary first week as she would have to go on different ventilators and her glood gas levels were high most of the time.
Then we found out that poor baby had Bilateral Grade 4 brain bleeds and it could cause her to have a number of developmental issues if they didn't stop. All we could do is wait and pray that she got better.
So far her breathing has improved, she breathes on her own most the time with the help of a ventilator sometimes. Her brain bleeds have seemed to stop and some of the blood is reabsorbing into her body (which is a good thing) She will most likely stay in the NICU until mid March.
Journeigh's daddy works construction and with the cold weather has not been able to work consistantly. The hospital is almost an hour away so travel expenses get high going to see her more than once a day. It kills Chelsea and Kenny to not be able to be with their little miracle girl all the time.
We are raising money to help them with travel expenses to and from the hospital until Journeigh comes home, and also to help purchase things in order to care for her once she finally makes it home.
Any little bit will help, we understand that it isn't always easy to give money, we also welcome all the prayers you can give for this precious baby girl.
We have a facebook page for Journeigh if anyone would like to keep up with her.
Thank you all for reading our story. God bless each and every one of you!
