Life Isn't Fair!

Have you ever found yourself saying that? Many today do.  Maybe you have been among the many affected by the economy, perhaps a victim of some terrible tragedy. Whatever the case may be, one thing is certain:  people who experience hardships are positively affected from the support of those who are willing to help them.  Right now, you have the opportunity to help a family in need; a family going through a hardtime. Their names are Joseph and Bonnie Elwell and this is their fundraiser to raise $12,000 for a replacement Mobility Service Dog for Joseph.

Joseph and Bonnie are a loving couple of 21 years.  Joseph has spent an excess of twenty-five years in public service serving in the roles as both a police officer and firefighter.  The length of such physical service took its toll and required Joe to take a back seat to such manual labor several years ago.  As soon as life appeared to settle down, Joe was struck head-on by a drunk driver which permanently injured his back requiring major surgery and a future with constant pain from nerve damage. Joe is now permanently disabled.  A suggestion from his physician led him to acquire the aid of a Mobility Service Dog.  This is when the Elwell’s added a new member to their family:  a German Shepherd named Boca.

Boca Lausbub Von Elwell ( Lausbub meaning 'Rascal' in German, fitting for his personality while at home & play) is a well-trained Mobility Service Dog for Joseph.  Boca has been trained to perform an ample amount of needed tasks to support Joe in his daily life.  Some of these tasks are directly involved in saving Joseph’s life in case of an emergency.  Boca has been serving the Elwell’s well for just over two years as a registered service dog, trusty companion and loyal friend.  Unfortunately, as of late Boca has become sick with two incurable diseases which will soon make him incapable of serving his 'Dad" and may even result in the need for euthanasia. This pains the Elwell’s and they are actively doing everything they can to make sure Boca is comfortable during his final months in service.  As much as it pains the family, they are in need of a replacement Service Dog to care for Joe.

This is the purpose of this fundraiser.  To raise money to purchase a replacement, a trained new Mobility Service Dog.  After recently spending most of their life's savings on Boca and his training, it was never anticipated that Boca's service would be cut so short. A properly trained Mobility Service Dog can range from $20-$35,000.  In this case, the Elwell's are thankful that a local and reputable dog trainer/breeder has stepped up to the plate to assist in replacing Boca in a timely yet proficient manner. The total shortfall for the Elwell's is $12,000.00. The Elwell family asks that those who can, please 'Pay it forward' with a donation of only $10.00.

The goal of this fundraiser is to reach out to only 1,200 individuals who can open their heart for this cause. If this goal is met - so is the $12,000 shortfall.  If you can't donate at this time it's ok!  We asked as an alternative that you at least forward our cause and/or our Facebook link to 10-15 of your personal contacts.

They need your help.
