Merry Dove hasn't added a story.
Homeschooling mother and daughter had to leave the home in June for our safety; a protective order was issued. We continued homeschooling in small temporary quarters; I kept "Julie" 's schedule as stable and regular as possible. We are now back in the home, albeit with little protection and no financial resources. Her until-now-absent father is aggressively seeking custody which would also yield to him the house, the house I have always called "our" house, which he now calls "his house", which was actually purchased with my work -- my savings and relocation package. Because of "Julie" 's unusual health and educational needs, I have not worked outside the home in ten years, and will need some help to be re-established.
Last week the protective order was overturned; false testimony was given on the stand; I was falsely accused but was not given an opportunity to rebut; and now I have less than two weeks to prepare for a hearing at which custody will be decided.
The evidence is available, but the case will be lost if I cannot pay for effective representation. "Julie" 's father refuses to negotiate, controls the family finances, and insists on a court battle -- and has the resources to do it.
The family resources exist -- I just don't have access to them. Her father seized control of all financial assets immediately when I escaped last June; he closed my credit cards and shut off my access to family funds; since then he has been late paying the mortgage and utilities to the point that some utilities have been disconnected. He is required to pay them, and he gives various excuses: he forgot he didn't have internet connections; he didn't know how to use his smart phone; he didn't have checks; etc. These excuses are especially hard to believe, given that he has a PhD and runs a company. A local charity has paid December utilities in order to prevent disconnection, and gave us groceries.
Desperate to protect "Julie", I'm speaking up to ask for help. We need $5K to pay for attorneys' fees this week, and will need to pay experts' fees next week and thereafter.
In the photo is the list of things that "Julie" feels are most important for the psychologist to tell the court on her behalf. Yes, there's only one item on it.
I will repay contributions. Please help if you can? Thank you so much!
