My neighbor called CPS on us in December 2009. CPS unsubstantiated all allegations but not before asking us if we'd agree to her opening a case on us in which we said no. She came back 3 weeks later, again on 4 more different days and asked the same thing even stated she could get us a grant to remodel our home (as we were in the beginning stage of). Again we said no. Knowing that we ran a cat rescue she then decided to tell her supervisor and director that we were cat hoarders, with that animal control was called who then conspired with this caseworker to get her much opened case. The cats were illegally seized on 1/14/10, this also included my kids pet cats also. The aco lied to the judge and stated that he say 13 sick very emaciated cats, calling out one in particular as being the only caged cat. To give you an idea, the caged cats named was Chubby and he weighed 8.8 pounds and their vet scored him a 6 which is overweight. The day the animal control officer took our cats he said a bench warrant would be issued. So we waited for it. CPS dismissed their case based on one thing, that we could prove that we medically took care of the cats, I provided them with all the vet bills I could find from an 18 month period that totaled out to $1500. So we waited more to hear from the judge, still nothing, so I began to do research and this is when I found out that this aco lied to the judge. So I contacted the prosecutors office and explained it all and that cps dismissed their case and I wanted my cats back. I was told they were being used as evidence (this was 9/21/10) and she'd (the investigator on the case) would tell the aco. Still nothing. So I filed a tort claim on the aco, still nothing. I had to file the actual lawsuit against him by 1/12/12 and so I began working on that. On 11/17/11 we feel out of retaliation my rescue was raided. This time he took ALL our animals, all rescue cats and dog and all our pets including the chickens we used for food (eggs). This time no bench warrant was issued, this time, the aco killed 4 of the cats in order to get abuse charges against my husband and me, there was no cat in our care sick enough to die, 3 were sick and were under verterinary care that very week. 2 of the cats that were murdered were not 2 of the sick cats. I filed an injuction against him on 11/30/11 to prevent what happened in 2010. Last month I found out that the aco KILLED all the cats he stole in 2010 on 2/1/10, less than 3 weeks after he stole them. Not due process was done, no bench warrant, no custody hearing, NOTHING, he just stole my cats so this caseworker could get her open case and that was the end of our pets and the rescue cats. My daughters cat at the time of the seizure was 10 years old, a cat she has had since he was 8 weeks old! My sons cat was 7 years old, a cat we paid $700 on to keep him alive after my neighbors dog attacked him after he got out one night, a stray kitten we took in. My youngest had 2 cats, 1 was his very first cat that he too had had for 7 years and 1 cat that he rescued himself. I am currently suing the Indiana Department of Child Services and the animal control officer that cause this for no reason other than greed of a job! Suing the government is not easy nor cheap and this stuff goes on every day because people cannot financially fight it and they are too afraid of what will happen, for example, I stood up, I was raided and he sent a message to me by killing 4 cats. My attorney charges $450 an hour but my kids and cats deserve justice to be done. My kids tell me when I get down to not stop fighting for Tootalouse, Nemo, Simba and Sali, to not let this happen to anymore cats or children. So I am going through with hit but we are a family barely getting by because of this, my husband lost his job in 2010 because of what happened then and just lost a promotion of a job that would had doubled his current pay because of the raid in 2011. Please stand with my family to fight for justice of these kids and these animals that have been affected. It is not fair to be a family trying to help others and you end up needing help yourself. My whole family is suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, our vacations for the pst 3 years have been canceled due to this and we are not alone in this. Currently I need to raise $12,000 to keep the lawsuits against them alive. I have promised, if we win what we are asking for I will start a fund to help other people stand up against the government, only then will America be the land of the free.
