ALIENS, ARGHHHH!
ABOUT THIS CAMPAIGN
Outer Space Attacks! is a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for the art of the webcomic Attack of the Radioactive Worms from Outer Space.
WORMS?!
Attack of the Radioactive Worms from Outer Space started life as a fictional B-rated horror movie and I liked the concept enough to consider finding some folks to help me bring it to life.
Here is the blurb for the fictional film:
Experience true terror in Attack of the Radioactive Worms from Outer Space. Can friends Bishop, Mia, Algos and Leonard survive the deadly onslaught of evil alien worms intent on destroying the world, and will Mia and Algos finally realize their love for one another?
Now it is being made into a webcomic with a script by Kinza Asif that includes 20 episodes, and it's also being developed as an upcoming novel based on the same concept written by M.A. Malaga, a writer from the Philippines where the story is set.
I must say, it has certainly been fascinating and a lot of fun to see how both writers have interpreted and taken the concept, plot and brief character details I provided to them and made something distinct and unique.
The first episode of the webcomic features art by Elliemay, and if/when all episodes are funded they will be available to read for free on WEBTOON in the future.
I am looking to work with the artist who illustrated I Am My
Hair, Rafli Khalifah, to illustrate this webcomic.

ABOUT THE WRITERS
Kinza Asif is the writer of the comic script. She is a graphic designer, brand identity expert and writer from Pakistan.
I first discovered Kinza while looking for a freelance writer online and she helped me to adapt several short stories into comic scripts. While I was initially hesitant to run the idea of the webcomic by her, she was amazing at taking on the task of creating a script for Attack of the Radioactive Worms from Outer Space.
I am beyond grateful to be able to work with her.
Here is an excerpt of the comic script:
Title: Attack of the Radioactive Worms from Outer Space
Episode 1
Panel 1:
[The sun sets over a quiet, coastal town in the Philippines in the late 1990s, casting a warm and golden light on the landscape.]
Panel 2:
[A sign outside a warehouse reads "BAYANI WAREHOUSES."]
Panel 3:
[Inside the warehouse, Mia, Algos, Bishop, and Leonard are working together, packing and organizing products. They're all in their early 20s, dressed casually.] (drone view)
Panel 4:
[Mia, wearing her favorite 90s band t-shirt, takes a break from her work and moves toward Algos.]
Panel 5:
[Mia chats with Algos while leaning on a stack of crates.]
Mia (smiling): "You know, Algos, I had a great Sikaran session yesterday. I feel so pumped!"

M. A. Malaga is the writer of the novel. She is an interior designer, artist and writer from the Philippines.
I just love her style of writing and how she brings authenticity and humour to the work.
Here is an excerpt of the novel:
Attack of the Radioactive Worms from Outer Space
Chapter One
The cool, crisp summer air swayed through the rustling leaves and branches that made up the brown giants with green tufts that stood all around the face of a mountain. There was a rhythmic fusion of sounds from all over; some coming from the chirping of the birds to the minute footsteps of the marching ants to the flowing waters in the nearby stream.
A ring made up of rocks and stones in varying sizes and cuts stood in the middle of a clearing and inside the ring were pieces of wood crackling against a bright red and orange flame. The heat emitting from the fire gave off a warmth that could be equated to the modern saying ‘warm and toasty’.
Pieces of meat, fish and marshmallows on bamboo skewers cooked against the roaring fire; their tantalizing flavors wafting about. Nearby, a cast iron pot filled with cooked white rice was hanging above the fire on a hook.
Mia poked the burning wood with a long stick; stirring it about to generate more heat. “Hey, can someone toss me one more log?” she called out.
“You got it, Mia!” Algos said as he picked up a log from the nearby
stack and walked over to Mia; placing the log into the fire.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Elliemay is an artist from Ukraine. She is passionate about her work and enjoys drawing in anime and manga styles and working on different types of projects from comics to webcomics and manga as well as cover art.
***
Rafli Khalifah is an artist from Indonesia. He enjoys drawing manga and webcomics, especially in the action, fighting and shonen manga genre.
He has previously illustrated I Am My Hair for me, and you can read it here.
ABOUT THE CHARACTERS
Mia, Algos, Bishop and Leonard are four friends who work together, and growing up they attended school together. They are in their 20s, live in the Philippines, and they share a love of Pinoy hip hop (Pinoy Rap).
Mia likes Sikaran and swimming.
Algos likes Mia and romantic poetry, and he plays table tennis.
Bishop also plays table tennis, and listens to Pinoy Rap.
Leonard is a computer nerd, so to speak, and graffitis poetry in obscure places as a way of protesting.
David is Mia's father and works as a medical examiner.
The radioactive worms may resemble giant gummy worms, but make
no mistake, they've come from outer space with evil intentions.
