We live in a world that marginalizes, underserves and excludes the developmentally disabled community. It is an embarrassing truth to acknowledge that across borders, cultures, and classes the developmentally disabled face harsh realities of social exclusion. For this reason, passion project Connecting Resilience was born.
- Connecting Resilience aims to counteract this by bridging together developmentally disabled adults from different communities to expand their social circles, learn bilingually, and safely spark new connections.
- We provide an international learning curriculum created for developmentally disabled adults to safely socially connect, build community, and learn in English, Spanish, and Bilingually.
- We currently teach an in person, hands-on, English course in Escobar, Argentina and host online hybrid, bilingual, social learning activities from the San Francisco Bay Area.
Presently, Connecting Resilience founder and longtime adults with developmental disabilities teacher, Nira Baisman, is using her educational experience to create an innovative new digital space and bilingual/biliterate curriculum intentionally modified for all learning levels and disability needs. Students from Escobar, Argentina and California, USA engage in online exercises together, play virtual games, have music exchanges, learn about each other and most importantly develop social connections.
Right now, Connecting Resilience needs your support for its’ next big enterprise!
Connecting Resilience is celebrating the resiliency and beauty of the developmentally disabled community through creating a bilingual positive affirmation “I Am / Yo Soy” video. This cross-cultural video is intended to boost self-confidence and well-being while increasing positive global disability awareness.
Our goal is that Connecting Resilience will be able to create, develop, organize and execute this important project of global connection and visibility as well as support all the students we work with however we best can. Please help Connecting Resilience advocate, support and highlight the developmentally disabled with a donation today. Contributions of any and all sizes are greatly appreciated.
If you would like more information or to learn how to support further, please contact Nira Baisman at connectingresilience23@gmail.com. Thank you y Gracias!
