Lee Stevens hasn't added a story.
Meet our newest angel, Angus. He was listed as FOUND in a lost and found group on fb. One of our volunteers made contact and the rest is history.
Angus is about 10 years old and in bad shape. It is obvious due to his condition he had been on his own outside for sometime. He was covered in tics and fleas and suffering from exhaustion and heat stress. His skin is irritated in spots and he has suffered some hair loss. He can barely stand and right now appears to be incontinent. When he did poop finally today it was hard as rocks.
Angus was rushed to the vet immediately this morning after pickup. He was having difficulty breathing so was placed in an oxygen tent and given a bronchodilator and a shot to help him breathe easier. The tics were removed and he was given a Capstar. Our vet this morning diagnosed him as being extremely anemic.
This afternoon he went to a temp medical foster who had him bathed and even after the Capstar, is still fighting with at least 2 layers of fleas. His ears are infected and mostly closed so hearing loss is probable. Due to his severe anemia he has difficulty standing but he did manage to take a couple of steps to go potty. He also has 2 lumps in his groin area; one larger than the other.
Why are we asking for help? Because he has a long road and a tough fight ahead of him. He is going to one of our rescue vets on Wednesday where he will be checked out from top to bottom. We are having bloodwork done, a tic borne disease panel ran, thyroid panel done and of course a heartworm test. We are also doing xrays of his belly and chest. We have started him on basic anti-biotics, but he will need additional meds. Of course his teeth are in horrendous condition however we are not even considering a dental at this time. He needs to be stable for anything of this nature to happen. He is very exhausted and lethargic. We are hoping this is just due to the anemia and as he regains his strength the lethargy will diminish.
Best guess right now based on what we know our vet charges for certain procedures is somewhere between $600 and $800 and this is just to get him stable. We have no idea what the vet will find once they start their examination.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO RAISE THE MONEY FOR HIS VETTING friends. We've taken so many in lately the money disappears when it hits the bank.
Please read Angus's story and donate if you can. We believe, no we KNOW his life is worth saving. He has shown us signs that he isn't ready to give up so we aren't giving up on him.
Whoever dumped him will have to answer to a higher power. Karma is a bitch.
