Hello, my name is Alexey. As all ordinary people I have never thought about prosthetic limbs before, about their types, prices and availability, or to be more exact, unavailability for disabled people. But life made me study the question in details. Being an engineer I was interested in prosthetic limbs, which may at least partially restore the missing limb function. And you know what I have discovered? One has to put out tens of thousands dollars for having controlled and functional prosthetic limbs. It is clear that an average person can not afford to buy it, and controlled prosthetic limb will stay just a dream about the possibility to feel as a full-fledged member of society.

The project «ABNBIONIC» aims to create advanced bionic hand prostheses which would be available for people with missing limbs.

«ABNBIONIC» prosthesis works in the same way as a natural human hand. It uses electromotor instead of muscles and steel cable instead of tendons. There is a compact and powerful electronics with microcontroller which allows «ABNBIONIC» to make various grasps and to manipulate with both big-sized and weighty objects properly.

There are special sensing electromyographic devices (EMG) that are used for prosthesis managing. They placed on the skin surface in the forearm area and detect muscles electrical potential. The quantity of sensing devices depends on how many active muscles are left after injury. Then more active muscles left, then more signals are made for prosthesis managing and therefore, more opportunities for different grasps and manipulations can be done.
Each amputation injury has a very specific character and prosthesis should be set individually for each user. One will also need some time to learn how to manage the prosthesis. There is a special «ABNBIONIC» software where one can find all information about the device settings and user's guide.

There is a special program software written in order to set the device individually for each patient and to show the way «ABNBIONIC» works.

We have developed our own system of finger traction with automatic interlocking and the system of flexible holding, which can carry out extreme loadings.

We have also developed the unique prosthesis construction, which allows to produce both single «ABNBIONIC» samples and mass production in industrial conditions due to moulding, stamping and etc.

Now, the project «ABNBIONIC» unites many specialists (engineers, doctors, designers) who work with enthusiasm. But unfortunately, enthusiasm is not enough, the project needs investments. We plan to develop and put into production not only hand prostheses but also prostheses for people having more serious amputation cases.

I do my best so that the project «ABNBIONIC» could be called a real achievement. That is why I decided not to take ready foreigh projects and created my own one, started from nothing. All expensive components of foreign origin are being substituted by self-engineered details. No we have self-engineered prothesis construction, finger traction, printed circuit board and a software.

Currently, the team of «ABNBIONIC» has started to prepare a prosthesis production sample. We also set a few very ambitious and unique goals:
Now we have to use EMG of foreign production. It's very expensive and the next that we are going to do is to develop new generation EMG sensing devices with improved capability. These devices will be used for the system of gesture defining.

We have also developed two prototypes of bionic prosthesis for children and tractional fingers prosthesis. The prototypes static tests were carried out. The work at childrens’ prosthesis is currently suspended, because of lack both human and financial resources. In case the project collects money in the amount of more then required for adults prosthesis, it is planned to resume working at bionic prosthesis for children and tractional fingers prosthesis.

There is still a lot of work to do in order to finish the project and to prepare prosthesis production sample, which will be as functional and reliable as the most famous foreign prostheses. These works need a lot of expenses. That is why I need help of every single person who feels strongly about it.

The major part of invested money will be used to finance works devoted to «ABNBIONIC» prosthesis production sample development.

THE LIST OF WORKS TO BE DONE FOR INVESTED MONEY:

Designing and manufacturing of silicone forms and equipment for details mouldings made from high endurance plastics;

Designing and manufacturing of matrixes for the details made from metal sheet;

Manufacturing metal details of line traction;

Designing the final and improved version of prosthesis «ABNBIONIC» control board;

Mass production of printed circuit board and radiocomponent installation;

EMG device designing and its' implementation instead of the foreign ones;

Manufacturing high quality and reusable electrodes of EMG devices;

The development of mathematic model and software system for gestures detection;

The development of special module software for PC and Smart Phone;

The second expenditure item list:

High quality micro-electric drives;

High-tension plastics for details moulding, making forms and equipment;

Radio-components (microcontrollers, integrated electronics, motor-drivers, accumulator battery and etc.)

Various mechanical details (micro-bearings, micro-fixing system, springs, steel cables, axes, gear-wheels and etc.)

The bars of durable and light metal alloys for mechanical processing, metal sheet;

The third expenditure item list includes the equipment, instruments and furniture for laboratory, where works on prosthesis designing, assembling and installation are being carried out.

The sum of money left after covering all necessary expenses will be spent for developing and installation of production samples of bionical prosthesis for children and tractional finger prosthesis for free.
