Animal Rights and Rescue Group is a non-profit organisation, established in Lismore, NSW, Australia in 1994. We are a rescue centre dedicated to rescuing animals (mainly cats and dogs). The special thing about us is we are a foster network. So our animals get to stay with foster carer's in a real home environment until their forever home is found. Over 12,000 animals have already been saved by the centres hard work and dedication. Animal Rights works with the local council, RSPCA, police and the community to help rehome abandoned, surrendered and abused animals.
We are currently experiencing hard times as we do not receive government funding and are a small organisation. It is through the public's generosity and creating fundraising events such as markets that we have been able to stay open.
Our biggest challenge currently is raising funds to save a little 14 week old Collie x puppy in our care. Police took Max, his siblings and his mother to the pound in August of 2015. We then rescued the whole family as his mother had severe mastitis and his siblings and himself were very ill. All have been successfully rehomed, except for Max. He has recently been diagnosed with a intrahepatic liver shunt. He is a beautiful, thriving pup who has a strong will to live. His shunt is correctable through surgery. But this will cost the centre over $6000. We have already had a liver shunt pup success story in the past who thrived with special diets and medication. Max will live a normal life without medication though if he has the surgery. We seek help to cover the costs of his surgery as it is our non-profit group that pays for all his vet work, as well as the many other animals in care.
"Saving one animal won't change the world. But it will change for that one animal".
