Extinction Rebellion (XR) is a rapidly growing social movement which demands action on climate and ecological catastrophe. Local groups have spread across the country and the world including our dynamic  group in Colchester, Essex.

In the UK we have already seen remarkable progress with thousands becoming part of the national network with our shared goals of:
1. Demanding the Government must tell the truth about the ecological emergency, reverse inconsistent policies and work alongside the media to communicate the sixth mass extinction to our citizens.
2. Ensuring the Government must enacts legally binding policy measures to reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2025 and to reduce consumption levels to deal with “ecological overshoot” (using too much of the planets resources).
3. Starting a Citizens Assembly to set the policy and initiate the changes, as part of creating a democracy fit for purpose.

Our Colchester group has held many actions and events including a climate hustings in the lead up to the UK general election, die-ins to highlight fast fashion, climate breakdown and Youth Strikes. Hundreds have taken part and many more engaged through our street actions and media coverage. We are funded by members giving what they can, when they can. Any money raised help us pay for room bookings, art materials, printing and legal fees. All this ensures that our movement continues to grow.
