Elizabeth Watson hasn't added a story.
We are all made in the image of Creator God and yet, as we grow up, many of us somehow come to think that we are not really very creative.
Engaging with our God given creativity helps us to express our emotions, process what we are experiencing and see the beauty and joy in the world around us.
Creating opportunities and spaces where we can explore different forms of creativity is a way for all ages to reconnect with our identity as creators and images of God.
Incarnate is a 4 month training program for artists and curators. It is a journey of discipleship, theology and cross-cultural mission. It involves a two-month residency of coursework, studio time and community life followed by a two-month placement collaborating with local artists alongside a mission team. Watch the video to get a taste of the journey:
We are off to Hungary, in Aug 2022, for the residency and then the Far East, in Oct 2022, for the placement.
Obviously, this is right up Elizabeth's street and we hear many of you ask, so Rory will be doing art?!
Rory will be joining the journey by using his maintenance and electrical skills to serve and support the local communities around us in Hungary and Asia.
We would love to have a support team of family and friends to journey with us by:

Providing practical support. We need:
- Accommodation from 15th to 27th Aug as the lease on our flat ends on Aug 15th. This has been sorted. Thank you.
- Storage for the belongings we are not taking. This has been generously gifted to us by family members. Thank you.
- Seeing us to the airport on Aug 27th with 4 months baggage.
- Meeting us at the airport on our return in Dec 2022
- Short-term accommodation as we return to the UK in Dec and decide where to next. Thank you for various offers of spare rooms to land on our return. :)
If you can help with any of the practical needs above please get in touch by WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger or filling in this form.
When you become part of our Support Team, you also subscribe to the monthly updates of our journey. We want you to travel along with us and share in our learning, celebrations and progress.
Highlights
See all activity41We took everything to storage today.
Four days until we fly and we're sitting in a mostly empty flat!
Next job - packing our suitcases.
A huge thank you to all those who came to our Open House to say goodbye, it was lovely to see you. You were generous enough to buy 17 of Elizabeth's art works and add to our financial target. Such a big help, (and a boost to Elizabeth's confidence) thank you so much.
NOTE: This page will close on Fri 26th Aug. If you want to help towards our financial target then now is the time! You can contribute here.
It also means that, if you want to follow our journey, it's time to fill in this form with your contact details.
Thank you for all your support so far. It's been great to hear your questions, encouragement and your excitement for what we are heading into. The excitement is building in both of us now.
Looking forward to continuing to share this journey with you.

15 days to go!!
So many preparations done.
So much still left to do!
Three boxes packed.
Five boxes unpacked with the contents being sold, given to charity or
thrown away.
It's exciting to be so close, although sometimes the list of things to do swamps the anticipation for a moment.
We're really looking forward to meeting in person the people we will be working and journeying with over the next few months. Whilst also extremely sad to be saying goodbye to everyone here in the UK.
On that note, a reminder to add your details to our mailing list if you want to stay up to date with all that is happening. We will be sharing snippets on Facebook and Elizabeth will be sharing some of the artwork on Instagram (@theadventurousbutterfly), however, the detailed updates will be shared separately.
Until our next update,
Elizabeth and Rory
It's now a matter of weeks until we leave our home and head off to our training!
As we pack and make preparations for leaving we are also finding out more about the places we will visit and topics we will be exploring. This week we started learning about Ethnodoxology - a key part of what Elizabeth will be practicing. Find out what this new word means by watching the video below.
It has been a little while since an update.
Firstly thank you all for your prayers, best wishes and contributions, they are hugely appreciated. It is also wonderful to know people will have us in their thoughts and prayers while we are away too.
As I write this we are 33 days away from leaving for Hungary, so much to do and so much already done.
Tickets, insurance, selling and storage of possesions, planning and scheduling, oh and our least favourite, travel vaccinations. we have had 4 and about 4 more to go.
Thanks once again for all your help.
Speak soon,
Rory
We are excited to report that our accommodation for Aug 15th to 27th has been sorted. Thank you. :)
The preparations are intensifying - today we had our first round of vaccinations. 5 out of 9 complete. It's great to be a pin cushion!

We
know where we are going to for our placement in Asia!
Elizabeth has spent most of this week fighting off COVID - the second time she has had it. Another week in bed in June - not so great.
However, we end it with the exciting news that we are heading to the Philippines for the placement part of our trip. Yay!
Elizabeth visited the Philippines once, many years ago, and this will be a first visit for Rory, who's hoping for some surfing!
We're off to start booking vaccinations and things.
Thank you for all your support so far.
Elizabeth and Rory
