Help Anne, Jamie & Their Daughter Rebuild After the West Dalhousie Wildfire
On a quirky piece of land in West Dalhousie, Nova Scotia, Anne, Jamie, and their 7-year-old daughter built a life from the ground up. Four years ago, they arrived with all they could carry, ready to start fresh — fueled by determination and a deep love for working with their hands and the land. They poured their hearts into creating a small homestead: a place of peace, creativity, and purpose.
On Sunday, August 24, 2025, the West Dalhousie wildfire tore through their property, leaving behind little more than ashes and twisted metal.
They lost their home — the cozy camp they built and filled with
eclectic treasures, specialty kitchen tools, useful books, and art.
Plants filled the windows, and their daughter’s Lego builds, crafts,
and boxes of special finds made it their haven. Every corner of that
small space held both function and meaning.
They lost their
workshop — filled with the tools, supplies, and materials that
supported their small business and artisan crafts. Bits-and-bobs
collected over a lifetime of building and making, finding usefulness
where others couldn’t.
They lost their barn — along with their
tractor, equipment, seasonal clothing, and carefully gathered
materials for restoring the old farmhouse.
And now, the original
farmhouse itself — the heart of their long-term dream — has been left
damaged and is most likely beyond saving.
They’ve lost almost everything.
Anne and Jamie are known in their community for their resilience, generosity, and creativity. They’ve supported their local community hall and could often be found at markets, sharing handcrafted and homegrown goods — everything from preserves and baked treats to items born of hours in the workshop. Their daughter, full of joy and curiosity, was growing up surrounded by nature, learning the beauty of simple, intentional living.
Now they face the enormous task of starting over — with so much gone.
We’re reaching out to ask for help in any way you can: whether it’s a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or sending words of encouragement.
Funds raised will go toward:
Rebuilding structures lost to the
fire, including their home and workshop
Replacing essential tools
and equipment
Immediate living expenses and preparing for winter
No contribution is too small. Every bit of support helps this family take the next step toward rebuilding their lives.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and helping Anne, Jamie, and their daughter find hope in the ashes.
