Let me tell you the story of my wonderful dog, Haiko.
Haiko was buried into the garbage of the city of Huaura, a little town in Peru (South America). He was 3 months old and was sentenced to death because he couldn’t walk (check the video). I was moved by this little guy’s spirit. Even in his condition, he was a playful little fellow, so I decided to adopt him and pay for his treatment. I gave him the name Haiko because in Japanese Kanji it means “son of the ashes”. Like the Phoenix, he will rise from his condition and be as happy and playful as he can be. After 2 weeks of the treatment, he started to walk normally. Seeing him run and play like every other dog made me proud of him! I started all the necessary procedures to bring him live with me to Switzerland (5 months of procedures). Haiko and I arrived in Switzerland on the 24th April. At first he was a little bit apprehensive of his new environment but got over it in short time. It was time for him to start a new life here by my side.
Less than one month later, I noticed a little mass in his gum. I did not know what was happening.
It was cancer.
First I noticed a little mass in his gum around the 14th of May. We went to the veterinarian and he removed the mass with no further biopsy. 3 weeks later the mass appeared again and it got worse in time. I went to see another vet who removed a tooth and did a biopsy. As you can see in the picture (check the album), a tumor was diagnosed to Haiko. On the 28th of June we went to a clinic specialized on animals cancer. Haiko had lungs radio and internal organs ultrasound. No metastasis was found and we decided to start radiotherapy.
Sadly, Haiko needs 15 sessions of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The clinic is about 278km (180miles) from our home. The treatment (radiotherapy and Chemotherapy) is estimated to more than 11 000 Swiss francs (1 swiss franc is about 1$). Unfortunately, I don’t have that much money. This estimation does not include car oil, CT, ultrasounds, radiography and blood check (see on updates)… My father is helping me a bit but I still struggle to collect such an amount of money.
That’s why I’m turning to you. Please help me save my dog. In his little lifespan (he just celebrated his first birthday on July 2016), Haiko has had so much against him, and yet still came through, while still keeping his joy. I can’t stand the idea of him not going through this, and whatever happens I’ll be with him, but I want him to get rid of this horrible disease. I’m really attached to him and he’s attached to me. He’s my friend. He’s my family.
All the money collected will be used for Haiko's expenses. In the case we reach to cover also blood check, CT, radios, ultrasound with your donations, the extra money will be used to help people in the same case.
So help me make him rise from the ashes once again. I’m sure together we’ll be able to win this fight against cancer.
