Hello! I’m Ry. Thank you for taking the time to even read my story and why I’m asking for help at this time. I am in a complicated financial position after leaving my job due to health issues and starting a treatment program that is requiring a significant chunk of my time, energy, and resources.
I was at my job for less than 12 months, so I didn’t yet qualify for FMLA. I am in the process of applying for SSDI as this is not the first time my health, access needs, and medical needs have impacted my ability to work in the ways that are financially rewarded under capitalism.
Despite my health significantly declining over the past 5 years, I have continued to push myself to work beyond my capacity to keep up with the rising expenses of disability progression, especially in the midst of our current economy. This has only further intensified my health issues and further limited my ability to work.
To offer context without oversharing, this has been an extremely difficult year filled with:
- several unexpected deaths of family members and friends, including my stepfather who raised me
- multiple treatment-resistant health issues
- preparing for one surgery in October 2024 and another one likely coming in the spring of 2025
- medication complications
- constant shifts in my ability to perform ADLs
- much, much more that I cannot share publicly at this time

This financial support and nourishment will support me in focusing on my treatment and recovery without losing the ability to afford my rent, accessible food, transportation, healthcare, medication and appointment co-pays, supplies and training expenses to embark on a more sustainable career shift, surgery prep and recovery supplies, medical and mobility equipment, and more necessities.
I’m also happy to receive gift cards, resources for aid opportunities, meals, or any other resource that can help support me during this difficult, unpredictable time. I’ll also share more soon about additional ways people can support me through surgery recovery.
