It's time for the Red Hot Bev to be reborn!
The base vehicle for the Bev is a 1972 Dodge Tioga Sportsman. Before it was the beloved Bev, it was The Fish car which was built out of corrugated metal siding in the early 90’s. The Bev has travelled untold Playa and road miles, and has brought 8 years of badass breakbeat joy to the Playa and beyond.
After decades of service, it’s time for a new base vehicle!
Despite heroic preventative maintenance, crack mechanics working magic, and literal divine intervention, the Bev's base vehicle has reached the end of the road. After missing too many dawns at the trash fence, spending too many days deep in the guts of the engine, and too many spontaneous (unfun) fires, we are ready for the Bev to be reborn.
The new base vehicle will deliver reliable Trash Fence Mornings, will start consistently (hallelujah!), AND carry 50% more propane. That means More Fire. The new vehicle will also have a significantly higher maximum weight capacity to support that propane - and eventually a speaker upgrade, too. Did you know the current Bev is at its maximum weight capacity before we load it with five 18 inch subwoofers, 400 lbs of propane, dozens of gallons of water, and countless jumping, dancing humans?!!
The new Bev will also be substantially friendlier to drive to and from the Burn, offering the driver and passenger such modern comforts as windows that close, an enclosed roof, an instrument panel that works, and air conditioning!
Thank you for supporting the Bev as we rise from the ashes of our (many vehicle) fires and the Bev is reborn! We are raising funds for:
- The purchase of a new(er) base vehicle
- Steel, wood, and paint to graft the existing structure onto the new base vehicle
- A third 200# propane tank
Team RHB will supply all the love, labor, and skill necessary to graft the old Bev you know and love onto the new base vehicle.
