update, 7 December 2024: 

First, I want to thank everyone who has helped us over the past six years. It is because of your generosity that our family has been able to truly begin healing and getting much closer to being secure. 

I need to come to you this month, as we have hit a major snag. I am currently unemployed again, though God-willing only very temporarily. In the meantime, I have not yet received my final check from my last job AND I did not get my regular check from Social Security this month! In addition to this, I need to go back home to Florida to spend time with my stepmother who is facing a very scary medical situation - her lung has herniated outside of her rib cage; AND I need to pay for a class I have already started taking!  

My husband’s disability check does not cover all of our monthly bills, and while I have had a small influx of sales from my Etsy shop this week, I have $2 left after buying (not enough) groceries. I am a payment behind on my car as well, as I have not been paid since this summer.  

Outside of my own needs, my family back home has been through two back-to-back hurricanes, which has cost them thousands of dollars. They already cancelled Thanksgiving in order to be able to have a nice Christmas for the kids, and now they are talking about having to cancel Christmas activities after the expenses related to a death in the family. 

I know that it is a lot to ask, but I need to raise about $2500 for my own household, and about the same for my family.
