My name is Daryl Austman and I'm a 2nd cousin to Larkyn, but in many ways, she is like a niece to me. Her family and mine are both heavily involved in skating here in Canada and the family skating roots go back quite far.

I've watched Larkyn, grow-up, mature, strengthen her mind, body, and skills over the past 10+ yrs as she moved toward this amazing achievement.

I've also watched her parents work extremely hard to provide the support, financially and emotionally, she has needed to get to this spot in her competitive career.

Skating competitively at the National Senior level is challenging with competition, travel, boots/blades, outfits/dresses, training, coaching fees/expenses, ice-time, choreography and many more expenses.  Moving into the Olympic and World arenas as a relative newcomer, the expenses are going to skyrocket... additional training, more coaching, extra ice-time and off-ice training, more travel expenses, etc. etc.

Larkyn began this Olympic journey 8 yrs ago when she stepped out on to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics ice surface as a 12 yr old flower retriever for Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir's Gold medal as well as the infamous Joannie Rochette Bronze medal moment.

I want more than anything to help her truly live this dream to her highest ability, reach as high as possible and succeed in meeting her goals.
