My name is Kimberly Turner I am from St.Joseph Missouri born and raised. I moved here to California and have been doing ok raising my three kids son 22, daughter 19, son 14. Recently our family has experienced some ups and downs but nothing as dramatic as we have dealt with this past year, year and a half. In late 2015 I was tboned by a negligent driver. My car was totaled, I was injured, injuries caused job loss and that led to bills piling up and in the end I lost an unlawful detainer by default. California higher ups are overwhelmed by the influx of homelessness and are overwhelmed as to how to address the issue to them I say start by looking into unethical landlords and landlord friendly courts where a tenant with no attorney has the deck stacked against them and usually lose a strong case because of their lack of judicial knowledge which was my situation none the less this landlord not only unethically evicted us, she stole our property and deposit thru fraud and deceipt. The state suggest for low income litigants to reach out to Legal Aid and Public law in Santa Ana California and I suggest they look into other resources for tenants because both places told me I had a strong case for retalliation but they lacked staff and resources to help us and thus you end up like my kids and I living in a hotel because either your kids are to old for a shelter or the shelters are full and so to soften the impact this has had on my kids I use every cent of my small income paying for a hotel for us I get county help but it doesn't last long. I've had to sale what little property my landlord did give me which wasn't much considering she stole everything of value my kids laptops they used for college, new fridge, four flat screen TV show just to name a few and also this all began in August around the time my daughter was supposed to attend Prarieview A and M college in Texas. She had her dorm paid and assigned, roommates, financial aid lined up and she had to withdraw cause I couldn't even afford to get her to Texas now I truly feel alone with no family here and I only stay because my youngest is a well on own youth football player with plans to attend high school at Mater Dei because the school encompasses both his loves strong academics and athletics. I haven't drove a car since accident but it's getting harder for me to walk and catch bus etc I'm still treating a few of the injustices from the accident and walking and standing is hard it's hard to apply for apartment when you often have to catch two buses to look at an apartment and you need the money to even apply and because my income is low I often have to decide to either do without something every now and then or pay $20-40 each adult applicant with no guarantee of move in approval? I've found a few used cars I can get but I can afford to save but a small amount which will be along time before I can even afford the car it's a used car from Enterprise sales for $4000. I wish I could afford it and that car will help me help my family because I can get around more and get more done and get us out of this hotel and into a place because I don't want to really live in the area I'm in I want to move farther out Corona, Moreno Valley but I can't afford to even get out that far so my request is to borrow (request) $4000 to but this car from Enterprise used car sales. I'm not into labels and material posession I don't care of the car year is 1998 as long as it can get my kids and I safely from point a to b then I'm ok with that I don't need to live like the Jones I appreciate everything I have that's why this eviction is so upsetting she took stuff my kids and I got on our own with no help and to work so hard for someone to come along and unlawful take it from you is not ok and very hard to swallow. I'm also hoping to have a bit left to get my daughter to college in August this times she's going to Missouri for college so she can have some family around her I refuse to let this circumstance dictate the direction of her long term goal to be a registered nurse or my oldest who want to be an English teacher I've got good, smart kids allways on honor roll good grades and attainable goals and focused and I'm glad that despite their setback they stay positive thru it all and when they do get discouraged I remind them that we have to go thru this storm to our blessings on the other side and that this test will soon become our TESTimony. I believe give good, receive good and always paying it forward. So that's my life I hope you can help us if not financially then just put up a prayer for me and mine when discouragement sets in and we want to throw in the towel to keep us strong mentally.
Thank you,
Have a blessed day
