Hello everyone my name is Aaron "Shawn" Turgeon, also know as Prolific The Rapper. I am Mexican, Lakota, White, and a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, and am helping at Standing Rock to protect the people by filming and documenting events as they happen. I work closely with other independent native media like Myron Dewey, Digital Smoke Signals, 1NTV, and others.

Morton County Sheriffs office put an illigitimate felony on me for peacefully and safely filming with my drone. They did so 6 weeks after the alleged incident, and put the felony on me after I was on Myron Dewey's live stream explaining to a South Dakota Highway patrol officer that Morton County Sheriffs office is doing things that seem unconstitutional and unamerican. They put 2 counts of Reckless Endangerment on me, 1 being a felony, and 1 count of Obstruction of a Government function. The States attorney also attempted to hold me on an excessive $100,000 cash only bond, which thankfully got reduced by the presiding judge.

After the prosecution sought an excessive bond, the reality of my need for financial help is really hitting me. I hesitate to seek help because its not about the money, but in truth my debt and the need to hire an attorney are making me feel like I want to give up. But I dont want to do that because I have been able to capture some crucial evidence while there.

The legal collective at camp does an awesome job helping everyone, unfortunately they don't have enough money to pay for everyones attorneys. Morton County has been bleeding the legal teams donation funds by maxing the fines, fees, and bonds on water protectors.

I have children at home and I am happy to work for free for the people, because I love the people. But I've realized I need help. Any financial help is greatly appreciated. We are in a new era where the water protectors are trying to protect the people's water, and the people at home are also protecting the water protectors with shares and donations.
