Help Kobi heal
At his 4th birthday. Kobi got hit by a car. At first we weren’t aware he was hit by a car because the main concern was the large open wound on the inside of his right leg. We rushed him to the vet had X-rays taken of back legs, both came back ok.
Vet prescribed him antibiotics and pain medication. He was sedated and back right leg was stitched up. He had a lot of bruising on his back legs. Besides being sent home with a cone on his head and a $900 vet bill we thought we were extremely lucky!
After a few days we noticed Kobi was favouring the other back left leg ( not the injured one ) we took him back to the vet to get bandages taken off and everything looked good and vet mentioned how much a brute this boy is and was impressed with his healing. However, we were not in the clear. Just taking a look at his back end the vet could see there is a dislocation in his left hip. At that point we were almost two weeks into healing and his hip will not be able to be manually put back. He will require an open reduction surgery. Along with after care and possible therapy.
He said we are looking at a $5000 surgery if not more depending how much healing has already accrued on the joints. As time passes on its only healing more incorrectly. To help with the growing cost of Kobi’s vet bill any little bit will help. The vet advised the unthinkable, to put him to sleep as he cannot suffer day after day. I know some people may think this is a lot of money, but if you are an animal lover you know how much your pet means to you.
It breaks our hearts deeply. Kobi has been an amazing part of our family for the last 4 years. We took him home when he was just 7 weeks old. Kobi is a purebred Doberman. Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting our gentle loving boy has always made a point tell us how beautiful he is, amazing dog all around.
We have a two year old daughter and another dog who love him more than anything. We all need him.
