I am once again in a place where I must humbly ask for support and assistance. Chronic illness is ruling my life but I don't want it to be this way forever. Help me get back on my feet, literally! 


While preparing for travel on February 9th I slipped on some ice, barely caught myself and at that moment I felt something go very WRONG in my left hip. 

I tried to push through this pain and keep my schedule as planned, but this resulted in my hospitalization when I was not able to walk a few hours before I was supposed to be boarding a plane. I spent the next two nights in the Emergency Department.

I was recently diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Hypermobility type, which basically means that my collagen is wonky, so my joints and ligaments are loose, along with many many other potential internal issues. Because of this, I was worried I had dislocated my hip- the pain was unbearable and I needed help to even get in and out of chairs etc. 


I tore my Obturator Externus muscle apparently, discovered only after I was called back in the second day when physicians feared they had missed a hairline fracture in my pelvis. An MRI shows extensive damage to the muscle that could take up to 6 weeks to heal. This is a rare injury to have in isolation, so doctors are chalking it up to my EDS and prescribed rest and physical therapy. 

I have finally found a physical therapy center that specializes in EDS and will be getting weekly or twice a week treatments there, but mostly I just need to REST. I also have pressing issues with my shoulders that need addressing, also shown through MRI, so I am seeking an EDS competent orthopedist in the area since the one I saw about my hip seemed to have no idea how to consult an EDS patient. 

This is a really difficult, lonely and dehumanizing time for me. I haven't been able to work since the summer and my progressing disability has been embarrassing and isolating. I need support and community to endure this, financially and emotionally. 


Corwin Prescott and Nicole Vaunt have been such good friends throughout this ordeal and have offered me an adorable cottage on their forest property to heal and rest in. It would benefit from some fixing up so I can shower and cook without limping to the main house, but without this space, taking time for my healing wouldn't even be possible. I am so grateful to these two!

Money raised will help me cover repairs to the cottage, utilities, transportation, food, care for my #1 cheerleader Squee the cat, upcoming medical needs like mobility aids and braces, as well as help me cover my bills so I'm not just sinking even further into debt this month. The more I raise, the less I have to put stress on my hip because it means I can do crazy things like order food (a serious luxury to me these days!)



 I want to give back in every way I know how, and I want desperately to be healthy enough to do so reliably.  Help me get there, so we can all help each other.
